This follows on from the massive general strike in Italy.

I hope we start to see this attitude spread here to the UK.

With a view to what end? The UN are thrashing out a plan sans hamas.

Unless it's the collapse and dissolution of Israel as a state that you're after, and I think that would be disastrous in the region, I think Egypt & Jordan would agree. Lebanon and Syria are already destabilised and their equilibrium will depend on Iran.

It's all very exciting fomenting rebellion, but not overly constructive and loses sympathy quickly with people already struggling in this economy - unless that is your intent, and you should be careful what you wish for.

With a view to impacting Israel economically.

I think we should use our unions more anyway, but it would be nice to see people standing up to a genocidal state

I wonder if you remember the 70's.

Oddly - there appears to be a symmetry in this?

” USB dockworkers had already warned that if contact with the flotilla is lost, they would immediately move to block all shipments to Israel.”

Israel blocking aid getting into Gaza, the blockade of its ports. Now effectively this is being threatened to Israel but at more distant ports.

Weapons can currently get into Israel but sufficient basic goods cannot get into Gaza.

Italian dockworkers threaten Israel cargo ban if Gaza flotilla blocked

“If we lose contact with our boats … even for just 20 minutes, we will shut down all of Europe,” dockworker says.

One could argue that the blockade of Gaza’s borders by Israel was necessary to protect Israel- despite the impact on trade, development and hardship resulting in Gaza.

Now similar restrictions being proposed for shipments to Israel- and of course- it has the potential to impact its own citizens

The naval blockade is illegal as it prevents the passage of humanitarian aid.
