UN general assembly vote on Palestinian State in September

Is there any real point to this? It's already know that the majority of members ALREADY recognise a Palestinian state... So why another vote? What would it actually achieve? It wouldn't get the Palestinians any closer to statehood, would it? Especially with the US blocking and vetoing at any opportunity.. Although I know they can't veto on this September's vote.
Anyone else feel frustrated that the huge gathering and vote (including new countries vowing to voting for recognition of Palestine) but nothing actually changing?
Are there any ways to statehood that can bypass the US and Israel? Seems wrong that they hold all the cards.

I think the intent of France, the UK and Canada's recent statements on this is to try to gently pressure the US a little.

Public opinion has really turned against Israel on both the left and right in the US, so you'd think it possible that Trump might pivot in his approach...but he hasn't really shown any sign thus far.

Tbh, it's hard to say if Israel or the US are the biggest issue at the moment. Yes, Israel naturally has far more direct involvement, but the US have seemingly given them a blank cheque and can (continue to) block interventions by any international forces.

We'll probably take the role of sniveling sidekick when Reform get in.
