What outcomes do people expect?

I tried to think of the times where US/the West in general got involved in anything and it was a roaring success and a win for democracy.

Iraq
Aghanistan
Libya
Syria
Vietnam

Earlier, colonies and the subsequent post colonial conflicts in Africa. Rwanda in 1994. Sudan. Countless others.

Oh, wait...

Can anyone think of a time and place where the West got involved and actually improved anything at all?
I do hope for a better outcome for Iranian people, but I am not hopefult whatever follows is going to be any good. Let's face it, attack on Iran is not about helping the people, but increasing influence and and trying to replace the regime with favourable puppet government, but this has not worked once before, why do people think it will work now?

I think the answer you are probably hoping for is that the West should just stay out of it and let Israel be obliterated by Iran and it’s proxies. Right?

You simply can't let Iran quite happily start a nuclear enrichment program again as they will be hel l bent on developing a nuclear weapon after this to prevent the humiliating battering it is currently getting. A deranged theocracy who vows to obliterate Israel having the bomb is something Israel and the West can't allow and that has been said.

If the US don't get involved then Israel are going to continue to strike Iran and they may move into striking centres of governance and if possible kill the Ayatollah. Iran is going to suffer hugely economically and there is a distinct possibility of regime change.

There is going to be a lot of soul searching by the West of Iran manages somehow to cause a lot more civilian death as Israel is an ally in the region and we have the assets to defend her. If for instance the UK continues to not allow our forces to defend Israel by shooting down missiles then we have to be concerned how much the government is unfortunately listening to pro Gaza/ terrorist supporters when it decides foreign policy.

They are too naive to think that's the only intention.

Well this is the thing: if you've got a country, who execute for adultery, how can they be trusted with a nuclear programme? If they aren't applying rational thinking to their 'justice' system, which is led by religion, what does that tell us?

Nor can Israel.
Neither Israel nor Iran are good peace partners. Since its inception, Israel has warred with its neighbours and worked to create destabilisation and chaos. Here we have a tiny nuclear power where the 6 million people of the majority tradition seek to control the almost equal number of Palestinians by illegal occupation, land grabs, shoot to kill internment without trial, and other human rights abuses. Now without consulting their allies, Israel initiates a war that they can only win by using their nuclear weapons. ( They see themselves as not needing to sign the nuclear non proliferation treaty). Against a state that has 10 times their population .
A great tactical victory again but what is the strategy? Trump has to say no to them- Biden was a wuss. The tail is wagging the dog again. It’s the only way to deal with the Israelis- even Bush stayed strong. The Israelis should suffer the consequences of the actions of their own government- they have no mercy for the Palestinians and now they are crying “war crimes” when their own hospital is hit after they start this episode.
And insiders say the bunker busters might monitor even do the job- the Iranians have after all lots of advance notice, the regime is run by religious zealots but not necessarily stupid people.
Almost everyone except Israel thinks that Iran needs to be dragged back to the negotiations in the interest of long term stability of the Middle East and Western Europe
