What to you would be a good deal?

I appreciate it’s simplistic but maybe give the Palestinians equal rights and their land back? If my family was forced from our home and then oppressed for 70 years, unable to move freely and treated as vermin by a colonial power, I’d probably bomb them too 🤷🏼‍♀️

Where would you put the borders then?
Or would you just get rid of Israel entirely?

dairydebris · 15/06/2025 18:50

Every single known member of Hamas behind bars and a complete disbanding of them as a political entity.

1967 borders, but with Jerusalem staying under Israeli control. The Haram al Sharif / Temple Mount under neutral control, with full access to Palestinians.

Free elections for Gaza and the West Bank.

A Palestinian constitution to be drawn up asap explicitly allowing the right of Israel to exist. Denying Israel's right to exist to be seen as a crime like holocaust denial is in Germany.

All settlers in the West Bank to be pulled out, under force if necessary. Full Palestinian control of the West Bank and Gaza.

Some form of reconciliation courts to be formed using Rwanda Gacaca courts as a model.

All war crimes, on both sides, to be investigated and charged by relevant bodies. As in all other wars.

Thats all I can think of for now.

this sounds sensible. Maybe not every Hamas member behind bars. It’s better to use a targeted approach and identify key individuals. Same with the IDF. Putting large swathes of the population behind bars has risks. You can see how in Rwanda or N.Ireland who, after a reconciliation process, people who previously targeted and even killed members of their community now live side by side with them. It can feel unfair but It avoided a revenge cycle and many believe it’s a key part of their relative success.

The whole thing seems very pie in the sky now though unfortunately. There just isn’t the right people in power for a peaceful resolution.

Yes, I thought about that one before I typed it, I think there was serious consequences in Iraq after a lot of the Ba'athists were jailed after the war... so youre probably right... in the end tho I thought Hamas are so far down the hole into extremism and have not bought any stability or economic progress- yes I think jail the lot.
Always we have the problem of what arises in that vacuum instead. Tried to mitigate for that with the Constitution bit.
I know it all feels pie in the sky but I honestly believe its possible with the right leadership on both sides. Obviously not with current 😬

The Israeli cabinet and high command on a one-way trip to the Hague.

Nail on head.

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 07:07

I have been reading a bit about how Israel presumanly acquired its presumed nuclear arsenal....
Well, I always thought US had sold them to Israel, but wanted to keep it quiet. But nope. Nothing seems to have been sold legimitally and a lot of spy and back door exchanges seem to be involved.
So, I think it is of vital importance to add "Israel to sign in to the Nuclear Agency inspections and the non-proliferation and so on..." to the deal list.
Alongside Iran's return to the nuclear deals, of course.

Nope, official sources, just old reports that I had not spotted at the time.
You really do not need to go dark to see a tonne of issues with any of the current leaders of the world and how back stabbing and beyond self serving they are.

Twiglets1 · 17/06/2025 07:45

Oh right... so none of the current world leaders are worth listening to, in your opinion.

Just as well or you might not have liked the G7 leaders statement about Iran and Israel:

"We affirm that Israel has a right to defend itself. We reiterate our support for the security of Israel," G7 leaders said in the statement.
"Iran is the principal source of regional instability and terror," the statement added and said the G7 was "clear that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon."

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 07:51

Many of the world leaders are falling well short of my standards, yes.

I have no issue at all with the G7 statement, whatsoever. I have not mentioned it in my post, so I am not getting why you are posting it here, or if it is indeed for me?

But, I do not want statements.... I like it when their actions match their words, which is not happening.

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 08:06

Still reading the news, because I have a long commute today....
This, from the Guardian today, very much paints how I see this conflict, between Iran and Israel.

Very very short of what I would like to see, which would be a tiredless barrage of talks around a table, followed by real words that translate into real actions, with real clarity, without backstabbing each other and paying the betrayal with our blood, the simple every day civilian blood.
Let's see what Trumps says and does next.......

What would be a good deal?

I'm posting it because it seems convenient for your anti Israel stance that you you don't trust the judgement of any current world leaders.

So you can conveniently discount their views that Israel has a right to defend itself, and that Iran is the principal source of regional instability which is why they can never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 08:17

@Twiglets1 darling, I can read all on my own and I already had read the G7 reports.
You cannot tell me what my stance or ideology are.
The thread is about ideas for a deal that would make the world a better place. I am rather positive I did not get it wrong.
I think you are meaning to add the Right of Israel to defend itself to the list. Which is welcome.
I have not mentioned it, neither I recall seeing it explicitily in the thread, because I do not see said right under any threat. Neither currently or earlier on. I can understand that some people may see a threat to the self defence of Israel, so I am happy for it to be added to the list, indeed.
I just have never thought, from my Westerner point of view, that said right has even been questioned, by any of our governments or media or any other Western organisation.
Do I know that Iran is considered an international threat? Yes, they have been high in the list for long time and I have followed the news.

Do I agree with Netanyahu and his cabinet? No
Do I trust Netanyahu? No

Your stance is obvious.

Please don't call me darling it's belittling.

@Twiglets1 and your initial response isn't condescending?

Whatsinanamehey · 17/06/2025 08:36

@Twiglets1 and your initial response isn't condescending?

Yes I admit it was.

However, I do not like being called "darling" by people on the internet and am entitled to express that I find it belittling. @MushMonster was equally entitled to express if my post annoyed them.

I was making a point which was that no source was given in the original post (later a source was added from the Guardian so I think @MushMonster got my point).

Whatsinanamehey · 17/06/2025 09:03

But you can't assume that someone is always posting from x or reddit in a tone that is rude and condescending. I never see you doing this to posters you agree with who dont post sources either or even when they do post from X.

If you are genuinely interested in where the source is from you could just ask, most posters would be happy to oblige.

Whatsinanamehey · 17/06/2025 09:09

Fast moving stories are often first reported on X first anyway now, even from official government channels on there and telegram before MSM

Your constant attempts to pick a fight with me across multiple threads are boring to me now and presumably to others also, so this is my last comment to you on that topic.

tramtracks · 17/06/2025 09:12

Nowayyousure · 15/06/2025 08:21

Briefly, to me:

Iran stop funding proxies to carry out terrorist attacks.

Hamas to lay down arms. No more missiles into Israel.

The Houthis to stop firing missiles into Israel.

Hezbollah to stop firing missiles into Israel.

Israel to deal with settlers in the west bank.

Israel to withdraw from Gaza and let a peace keeping group run until a new government formed.

Aid into gaza.

No more weapons smuggling into gaza via tunnels. Block them off.

Simplistic yes.

This.

If rude comments are constantly made to myself and others, then you can expect to be called out on it. That's also my last comment on the topic.
