Netanyahu said Israel had "probably" killed Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar - the younger brother of the former Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar - in a strike earlier this month

Netanyahu said Israel was open to a temporary ceasefire and hostage release deal, if there was an opportunity for one. Israel was prepared to end the war "under clear conditions that ensure Israel's security," he said

The prime minister said 20 hostages seized by Hamas in the 7 October 2023 attacks are believed to be alive and up to 30 others have died

Netanyahu said the Gaza Strip - in all its entirety- would be under Israeli security control by the end of the war.

The prime minister also set out his three-stage aid plan for Gaza which involves opening food distribution points by US companies in the strip and creating a zone to protect civilians after taking security control of the area

He also said the war won't end until Palestinians accept Trump's plan ie ethnically cleansed from Gaza.

Whatsinanamehey · 21/05/2025 20:05

Do you know where he wants to create this little zone? In Mawasi.
A tiny piece of barren land that has barely any infrastructure which he wants to make into a ghetto and cram in two million Palestinians. It's absolutely nuts. Why? So life is so unbearable that they have no choice to leave to whichever country they decide to ship them off to.

Whatsinanamehey · 21/05/2025 20:12

He also said our government only criticised Israel's shameful war and starvation tactics because they are under pressure from 'Islamic minorities'

Fucking hell.

Clear from that conference that the International Community are going to have to issue some concrete sanctions against Israel because he is laughing at the statements made over the past couple of days.

The aim is clear here. Ethnic cleansing of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli officials said 93 trucks entered Gaza on Tuesday but the UN says its teams have not yet been able to distribute aid.

This was my takeaway from the article.

Very tough talking from him:

"Our forces are seizing more and more territory in Gaza. At the end of the move, all areas of the Strip will be under Israeli security control," he said.
"I am ready to end the war on clear terms that will ensure Israel's security -- all the hostages returned home, Hamas lays down its weapons, its leadership is overthrown, Gaza is completely demilitarized and the Trump plan is implemented," Netanyahu said.
"Anyone who calls on us to stop the war before these goals are achieved is calling on us to leave Hamas in power," he added.

Israel's Netanyahu says 'it appears' Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar was killed

Israel has likely killed Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during a press conference on Wednesday.

And the Trump Plan is implemented.

So no ceasefire unless they all leave.

They know no sane negotiator will agree to this so they get carte Blanche to continue with the bombing and killing because "Hamas won't agree to a ceasefire"

I don't see what choice they have now? The EU really need to act. As Israels biggest trading partner they could really cripple Israels already struggling economy. The cost of this ethnic cleansing has been very high and cut backs have already been made within Israel to try and fund it. There are no more excuses for the EU to keep fannying around.

Thats not a ceasefire
Thats telling Hamas to surrender.
That’s telling the Palestinian people that Gaza will no longer be their homeland, it’s will be Israel. Just as his plan for it in September 2023

Odras · 21/05/2025 21:33

A clear position of no compromise.

They have to act with concrete sanctions. They could absolutely cripple the economy and I would expect Australia, South Africa, South American countries , Canada etc to fall in as well.

I'm kind of cautiously optimistic they will. Even today's diplomatic incident shows these countries that Israel has no respect for them.

Odras · 21/05/2025 22:41

I know. I think they will be forced into it really by this speech and diplomatic incident. As much as they would rather Netanyahu went back to oppressing Palestinians in a less headline grabbing way.

I wonder will it damage US relations for these countries to act? In previous times it would have been a massive big deal. It really is hard to know now. The US are keen for them to come under control too.
