This is blocking them from Israel. We can still watch it.

I was interested to see a Haaretz reporter say that he and some other Israelis did used to watch it, (talking to Al Jazeera) which I take to mean that he found it useful for information and does not dismiss everything Al Jazeera reports as a matter of course.

The Israeli government voted unanimously on Sunday in favor of shutting down the broadcasting of Al Jazeera, the Qatari television station, in Israel due to its coverage during the Gaza war.

Israeli police raided a Jerusalem hotel room used by Al Jazeera as its de facto office following the decision.

Video circulated online showed plainclothes officers dismantling camera equipment in a hotel room. The Al Jazeera source said the hotel was in East Jerusalem.

The law, proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, grants Karhi the ability to ban the channel from operating for 45 days.

The “incitement machine” reports deaths in Gaza and includes film footage of the destruction there.

There is no way they can control all the internet.
So they achieve nothing really.

Any particular reason why not? Is it not a just a general Israeli newspaper? It seems a good way to find out what news Israeli people are reading.

Hmmm. Kind of suggests at least some people consider Palestine to be occupied/annexed.

These people are not wacky fringe activists like Stop Oil, but the Israeli government who has sent in the IDF to raid a news channel’s office, tell everyone to leave but leave all their equipment behind, and then trash the place.. 🤔

Russia Today is banned in the uk because of disinformation. This is similar. Al Jazeera “journalists” have been directly involved in terrorist acts in Israel too so it’s worse really. It’s effectively Hamas tv.

Al Jazeera is banned in a number of other middle eastern countries too for being effectively Qatar state tv. I think it’s fair enough really

Everything you have said about Al Jazeera is Israeli propaganda, meant to make you ok with fact there is no freedom of the press in Israel anymore.

The West Bank is under martial law. That is the kind of law you have when you have a military occupation. This military occupation has been in effect since 7 June 1967 when Israel invaded the West Bank. It is why the military detain Palestinians and imprison them in military detention centres.

The fact it was the IDF, the military, shutting down Al Jazeera is another clue to the fact of martial law. Martial law is enforced by an occupying military, not by civilian law enforcement police.

Lol. It’s not Israeli propaganda that Al Jazeera is banned in a number of middle eastern states- look it up. Nor is it propaganda that Russia Today is banned in the uk.

There is of course freedom of the press in Israel same as the uk.

Bear in mind that there are no independent journalists in Gaza.

Al Jazeera and AP are in Gaza. Israel refuses to let any journalists in or out who were not trapped there on Oct 7th except for tightly controlled tours that are heavily censored.

This is why other independent journalists have started to interview the humanitarian workers as they are the only ones that have gone to Gaza, seen the devastation and then come back out.

If there is lack of clarity on what is happening, Israel has magnified that by refusing to allow in journalists and UN investigators.

Even Israeli journalists have strongly criticised the IDF's aggression against the Al Jazeera office in the west bank. They say any citizen in a democracy should be concerned by this.

Out of what total of staff members?

As to propaganda machines, should the U.K. refuse to air Hagari speaking or Tzipy Hotovely, for example?

And they call themselves a democracy …
