Thank you for posting this including all of the various links. The fact this is happening and people can turn a blind eye is absolutely shocking. If this were happening elsewhere there would be much more outrage ~ as MSM would be encouraging that. For example, we all know if Russia was committing these war crimes, it would be everywhere and MSM would have framed it completely different right from the start.

If these crimes were being committed in America then it would have been all out war long before now. Anyone who can easily shrug and think/say not my problem, I simply do not understand as this is happening to human beings. Children, men and women.

Well, the mainstream media do not fully, or adequately, report what is happening. When they do happen to, it is always framed in a certain way. Particular language is used which is completely different to language used towards others. It is all about dehumanising Palestinian lives.

So much is not "widely out there" It has to be searched for or checking the surviving journalists in Palestine social media accounts. Then the truth of the situation is available.

I used to scoff at people who happened to say similar about mainstream media until I realised it for myself.

Like it or not @Finallyloggedin everyone isn't interested, just like everyone isn't interested in what happens in North Korea, China, Ukraine, Yeman, Dafur, Sudan etc etc.

Everyone has multiple things going on in their own lives, in their own countries. Same as when major things occur in other countries some interested and some not.

Lots of protests, more than other serious problems attract. Its the way things are.

Numerous echo chamber type threads don't help. The better threads with debate and verified content attract more people.

Agree not everyone is interested but one would assume anyone who is in the ‘conflict in the middle east’ MN section might be.
Dissect every shred of what is happening in Palestine I say.
More people = more sources and evidence, more thought and discussion.

As I said some aren't interested and use MN for lighter topics as is their right. Your reply came later after the thread had been moved

OP, I've written to my MP on more than one occasion, I've boycotted Israeli products, supported Palestinian products, I've been on a march in London, I've donated money to Gaza appeals and will again. I took all these actions months ago. I share your horror but I'm also not sure what else you want me to do when you say 'Don't look away'.

I think it's really naive to think that people don't know and don't care and just need to read more about the horror until they understand. What exactly are YOU doing that no one else is, apart from reposting tweets and telling people to not look away?

I think your post is absolutely fine and it’s commendable that you are trying to do something. Don’t let these nay sayers put you off. They have decided they should spend their free time telling others what they should and shouldn’t post on mumsnet.

Yeah it's horrible but they're pretty committed to fighting each other. I'm not sure how we can really stop them.

I just finished reading the New Yorker article you shared – thank you for posting it. The journalism was excellent, and I appreciated the insights, especially from the female pediatrician who noted the distressing lack of dignity due to insufficient anesthesia and the unusually high number of children in the war zone. It’s heartbreaking 😭but I don’t want to forget about it

I support Israel but agree with the right of free speech on Hamas to support the other side. Thankfully unlike many countries like Saudi, Iran etc the UK and Israel have free speech as we are on the side of right and democracy.

Sounds like you are already doing lots, which is fantastic. A quick Google search just told me that mumsnet has 8 million members. Not everyone will have done the things you have.
