Beautiful baby laughing

I just watched a video of a beautiful little baby. His mum was making him laugh. I have a 4 month old ds who does that same innocent little laugh. Except this little baby was covered in dust and dirt from being bombed. I can’t stop crying. I can’t believe we’re just allowing this genocide to happen.

Can we then talk about the millions of gallons of fuel retained for the air-conditioners for the Hamas Tunnels.

Hospitals and water desalination plants are are without energy and cannot produce water as the tunnels come first.

The billions that have gone into the Hamas weaponry and tunnel structures, spent otherwise would have built communities. Instead they have been set on war..

Let's not also forget the Israeli ambulance staff shot in their vehicles helping the wounded.

Hamas does not care for its people or the children. This is about the destruction of Israel.

Can you give it a rest if you're here to be an apologist for the people murdering over 4100 children? This isn't the thread for it.

mauveiscurious · 08/11/2023 09:56

Apologist I think not, the death of innocents on either side is atrocious and hateful.

This isn't a binary argument. The murder of innocents on both sides is horrendous.
I think that this gets forgotten.

Not forgotten at all, the murder of innocent civilians is obviously horrendous, no matter what race or religion. A human life is a human life, and all lives should matter equally. By your argument, Israel should be condemned and held accountable for its war crimes against Palestine, for the years of killing and suffering it has inflicted on them, no? Do the events of 7th October, justify the deaths of 10,000+ (half of whom are innocent children? Not only is the world silent as we sit and watch the horror unfold over the last 30 days, our corrupt governments in the west are using our taxpayers money to fund these atrocities

Also you say ‘Hamas does not care about its people’… I think you’ll find it’s actually Israel that don’t care about its hostages. If a shooter goes into a school, do you carpet bomb the entire school, killing anyone and everyone in it, with no disregard?? Clearly it doesn’t want its hostages back. Netanyahu has already said that Israel will govern over Gaza when the war is over… clearly that was his motive.

Why tell people to evacuate to the south, then start striking the evacuation routes on purpose? Because they are pure evil

Israel is used to Hamas taking hostages and takes a hard-nosed approach, as explained in this article from 2022.

In 2006, they released 1000 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for an Israeli soldier (see e.g. here), but many have since been convicted of terror attacks.

I agree with this. It's all horrific. Until the two groups of people are able to each other as humans rather than enemies then I don't see how it can stop.

People with power are indiscriminately killing innocenct people who did not choose the actions of their leaders.

I don't know how any can defend this for any reason.

I think this is part of the problem for me. We are being told that innocent Palestinians must die now to prevent the possible murder of Israelis in future. Even if 7/10 happened every year it would take 10 years for the number of civilians in Israel killed by Hamas to reach the number that have been killed in Gaza in a month. Israel already kills 1000 Palestinians a year before this and that was okayed by everyone. 1000 from either side is too much but the numbers just don't add up to me. I don't believe that Hamas would kill anywhere near 1000 Israelis a year, history shows this. I don't believe that there is no other way other than killing 10,000+ people in a month and flattening Gaza. I really believe if Israel copped on and started treating Palestinians with respect instead of like vermin in 10 years the whole situation could have looked very different between them. Palestinians aren't animals, they are people just like us who if given proper opportunities and respect would respond to that.

Not now, Israel have gone too far, I don't think there is anything Israel can do now that won't make the children whose lives they have ruined and who they have left traumatised, hate them. I would hate them too. But if their response to 7/10 had have been more measured and more introspective I think they could have gained respect from Palestinians and the world. Instead the next generation of Palestinians will see them as beasts and not just that but the next generation around the world. I know my teens and thier friends who see Israelis dancing and whooping and mocking dead Palestinians on tiktok are forming very strong opinions on Israel based on their experiences. Israel have fucked it, fucked any chance of respect and any chance of peace because they have sought revenge not reconciliation. Even worse the UK and the US have supported Israel in it because of their own greed.

And I have just read about the Israeli mothers who have travelled to raise awareness of their children who were kidnapped by Hamas one month ago.
It is my worst nightmare knowing my children are either or in distress, scared, hurt and I don’t know where they are and cannot comfort them (or not knowing if they are dead or alive) completely excruciating.

^^This. I cannot even imagine.

"Israel are used to Hamas taking hostages."

One Israeli soldier Vs 1000 Palestinian hostages (including children)

I think it's the other way round.

1000 vs 1 might also indicate "negotiation" tactics.

You're comparing a full-on war with the deliberate hunting, torture, mutilation of civilians? By my reckoning, it's not comparing apples with apples.

What do you think Israelis do? Check points are about deliberate humiliation, there are statements from ex IDF soldiers saying so. How do you think it feels to be thrown out of your house would you not be humilated? To not be allowed to export your goods? To be stuck at a checkpoint for hours dying in the back of an ambulance until Israel decides you can go? To not be able to build a house on your land because Israel never give permission? To used as a human shield by the IDF when they raid your neighbours house? Shall we talk about the torture that the IDF put children and adults through in prison where they can be held without trial for as long as Israel want, what is the difference between that and being a hostage? Shall we talk about how many Palestinians are killed in a regular year? Of course it is apples with apples. And this happens all of the time, every day of every year. Just nobody seemed to care about it.
