A faint faint line...?

I tested this morning HPT, and checked after the horrendous 3 minute wait... Now there was the usual 'its worked' line, but the pregnant or not line, was there, but super faint?! I know it says a faint line is still a line, but...? Could barely see it if Im honest

Im not actually due on till tomorrow or Sun, but surely if I am pg, then there would be a line right?!

Sorry for the waffley post, I am desperate for -but not giving into, just in case- a big glass of red!!!

A line is a line in my opinion so am thinking cautions congrats are in order

re test tomo x

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 09/07/2010 22:05

Probably +ve, very unusual to get a false +ve, however faint, so congrats!

RoseNoir · 09/07/2010 22:05

Awww ta Nicolaplus1, I am feeling very nervous and excited... and VERY cautious about getting ahead of myself.

When should I try to get to the docs? Should it be asap or whenever I can get there?!

Im kinda freaking out... and thanks Breastmilk. I will test again tomorrow, and probably every day after that until I see a NICE CLEAR VIBRANT line lol.

Is this your 1st Rose?

Well i remember when i foned my docs they just get you to register with midwife usually within the 1st month or so.
They dont test you though they just take your word for it

Was it a double pack of tests??

RoseNoir · 09/07/2010 22:42

Im quite close to my sister and she thinks its +ve, so Im kinda going on her reasoning

Think I will ring docs on Mon, to check. Yup this would be my first (and long awaited for me, not so much for dp though, lol).

Yeah double pack of tests, now both gone. Good ole cheapy ones, so have now splashed out on a fancy digital Clear-wotsit that actaully says to you 'yes' or 'no you sillycow, because its too early!'

Trying not to get my hopes up too much though secretly chuffed

I got a line so faint I had to take the test apart to see it. The cause of the line is now sleeping on my chest

Hope the digital confirms it for you...

RoseNoir · 11/07/2010 12:34

Holy FUCK it said 'pregnant' to me!!!!! I dont really know what to do now, I feel like since I wanted this result I should have perhaps been a little more prepared... But I had kinda convinced myself it was too good to be true, but there it is. PREGNANT! Ok, and breathe.

So, doctors on Tues? Or do I wait a while longer?

nagoo · 11/07/2010 12:42

In my area you can go to the doctors as early as you like but you won't get a booking appointment until 10 weeks...

nagoo · 11/07/2010 12:43

Congratulations BTW!

GinaDavies · 11/07/2010 12:53

Congratulations

RoseNoir · 11/07/2010 12:58

Thanks ladies. I think I will go Tues, just for peace of mind and before I get too (quietly) excited

What should I ask and what do they do at the docs the first time..?

Congratulations.

The GP won't do anything as there's nothing to do iyswim. Tell you what not to eat maybe, see if you have any questions. Here you just book straight in with the midwife at around 8 weeks. It's that appointment where it all happens really.

What is it you want to see the doctor for?

RoseNoir · 11/07/2010 13:08

Thanks ShowOfHands. Well, Im taking anti-depressants and a few prescription drugs at the mo and with the anti-deps I know that it says not to just stop taking them, so want to check with docs what I can and cant take. Also, think I need someone to actually say to me, 'Yes Rose, you are indeed with child' lol, before it can properly sink in. Cant get my head round it at the mo...

I had a super super faint line this time. In fact I was throwing it in the bin when I saw it.

Am now 31 weeks.

ShowOfHands · 11/07/2010 13:15

Okay. So if you have specific questions it's worth going as that's something they can help with.

They won't do a pregnancy test, the home tests are as accurate as theirs, they'll just take your word for it.

In a straightforward pregnancy with no specific medical questions to be addressed people can be very disappointed by an early trip to the GP. You go in bubbling with excitement and disbelief and tbh the reaction is often lukewarm as there's nothing to be done.

But as you say, you need to address certain medication questions so you should go along.

Make sure you join the relevant antenatal thread on here. People as disbelieving/shocked/excited as you.

It'll sink in soon enough. It's a v exciting time, you should be very happy.

beachtent · 11/07/2010 13:56

Congratulations! So exciting to get a positive result!

If you're on prescribed meds I would go to the docs ASAP as there are quite a few meds that are not suitable to take when pregnant. But if you were TTC then you have probably (definitely?) discussed this already with your GP? If you are concerned then you could always call NHS Direct in the mean time. Most GP surgeries do same day appointments so I would get yourself down there first thing tomorrow morning (well, that's what I would do, but I'm a bit mental, so perhaps don't try to be as neurotic as me!)

There are some antidepressants that are safer to take whilst you are pregnant so if you're not already taking those, you will probably be switched on to them.
