Low AMH levels = poor fertility??

Hi, sorry, I hope this isn't seen as a selfish question given the circumstances many
of the people on these threads are in.

I had volunteered at our local clinic to become an altruistic egg
donor and had an initial AMH test. I've just had a phone call from
patient liaison to say I needn't come in to the next stage
appointment as my AMH test results show that I wouldn't have produced
enough eggs to make me a useful donor.

I understand that more eggs are needed for an IVF cycle than for a
natural conception. But does a low AMH test reading basically mean
that my fertility is pretty crappy?

My husband and I didn't have a problem getting pregnant with my
daughter 3 years ago when I was 30 and actually we weren't planning
on having any more children, which is why I was considering becoming a donor.

I'm not sure, therefore, why the phone call has left me feeling a bit
tearful - like I wasn't bothered about trying for another until I was
told that maybe it wasn't possible. But also I'm not quite sure
whether a low AMH level is bad news unless you're trying with IVF?

The clinic has said a doctor will be writing to me and the person who
told me stressed she wasn't a medical staff member but I wonder if
anyone has any knowledge on this board please?
