Is there any way of avoiding horrible pregnancies?

I have 2 lovely DDs, the youngest is nearly 7 months old. I had horrible, horrible pregnancies both times with the first six months in bed throwing up, hospital admissions, SPD that is still making me limp now and had me crippled in pregnancy, no sleep, awful heartburn, stabbing headaches, basically I was out of action for the entire pregnancies, then I had a rare type of section with DD1 (an inverted T shaped incision) which means I had to have a section with DD2 and that having another would be risky.

I really can't have another baby, can I? Do any of you know any way I could avoid those problems? I know I am lucky to have my girls, I would go through all that again for them in a flash, but it wouldn't be fair for them to lose their mummy for 9 months.

Avoid being pregnant?
sorry no real advice other than to say I can totally sympathise. this is baby number 3 and number 1 was dreadful, number 2, reasonably uneventful and this has just been the worst 8 months of my life, dont think i could do this over again. my two are 4 and 6 so am lucky that they are able to fend for themselves a little and i dont have to pick them up or change nappies etc honestly if they were younger I dont know how I would of coped. roll on 4+ weeks and let it be over

You've really been through the mill haven't you? I decided to stop at 2 as I had to have cs's and had rotten all day sickness with dc2. I did want to have 3 but wasn't going to push my luck.

Can you leave it a few years until they are more independant or at school? What does the GP say?

The bloody GP didn't even believe me I had had that type of section until the old GP sent my notes. I went in with (pretty obvious) SPD, they said it was a trapped nerve and I shouldn't wear a support belt of any kind and force myself to exercise through the pain. Hence me still limping now. Not got much trust for the GP in pregnancy matters now

Horrible pregnancies are part of the reason I am sticking at 2!

SPD, Pre eclampsia, constant sickness (for 9mths) carpal tunnel, loss of appetite, 2 sections...

Can't do it again. Most miserable 17months (dd1 del at 36wks) of my life.

It's the lack of support as well I think. The amount of times people told me they worked all through pregnancy, they didn't have time to be lounging about, when I was in and out of hospital and in constant pain...

Meh. Might have to look at adoption in a few years if we think it wise.
