How long after the surge should ovulation appear - I thought it was up to 48 hours, but could it be longer? Does this mean that I won't ovulate, or that I might do today?

Slightly confused I must admit (this is the first month with the cbfm).

Thanks!

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will come along and help more, but I remember that with the ovulation sticks I bought, the instructions said a positive test is only an indication that the LH is surging and ovulation may occur, meaning that you can have the surge and still not ovulate.
It said it's normal to have anovulatory cycles every now and again, but if it's happening every month then to see a Dr.

Hope someone else will be along soon that can offer more help!

Pollyanna, there's a Clearblue Fertility Monitor support thread that I recommend if you're using a CBFM.

I agree with what mummyotsquidgies has said to you - an LH surge is not a guarentee of ovulation but an indication your body is trying to ovulate. A temp shift occurs when the corpus luteam starts producing progesterone, which is why its more of an indicator of ovulation.

I've only recently started charting, and so far my CBFM and temp shifts correlate well. Have to say that if it wasn't for my CBFM I would have totally missed ovulation this month by charting alone (because I ovulated earlier than usual), so I personally do think the two work well together.

thanks shaggy - will come over and take a look!

have been googling in the meantime, and the shift can occur 3 days after, or even 5 sometimes, so I'm trying to remain positive about ovulation possibly happening soon...
