Fibroids on ovaries!? Just what you want to hear when you're been scanned to check if a MMC is complete!

Can anyone help with more info - I can't find much on the internet but am not really focused enough to do a complete search at the mo. I'm currently in the midst of dealing with a MMC - a twin pregnancy (my first) - which was diagnosed at 10wks when we went for a private scan. Have had follow up scans at local EPAS - seem to have fallen down the "conservative management" route for now - the most recent of which was today (my body has finally started to do what nature wants it to although there is still a little to go). Different sonographer today but she told me there were fibroids on my ovaries?!?! This has never been mentioned before despite them checking my ovaries at previous scans. What does this mean? The sonographer and m/w said they were quite common during pregnancy but only that. Am I panicking that when we're through this MMC and ready to TTC this will make for an uphill struggle?

Hi Mummy,

Sorry to hear about your MMC . I have no info, but wanted to bump you back up to the top...

Fibroids do not occur on the ovaries; what the sonographer may well have seen instead are cysts. Cysts

I would give this EPAS now a good verbal kicking and insist that you are seen by a consultant gynae who knows what they are talking about. To this end I would ask your GP to refer you to a gynae for further evaluation.

ATM Thanks for the info. Don't know if some of your post got deleted though?! Am seeing my GP on Monday and it's at the top of my list of things to ask. Might get round to looking it up on the internet at the week-end (although thats not always a good thing!)

Hi Mummy,

Am very sorry to read of your mmc.

Typed cysts twice by mistake.

Good luck with the GP on Monday and if he/she is unhelpful or does not know ask for a referral to a gynae consultant.

Do not do any google type searches as these could worry you unduly. Get proper medical advice first instead then you can look up more information following a diagnosis.

The Miscarriage Association are worth contacting as and when you feel you need additional support. They have a good and informative website.
