Sorry, faint lines appearing after half an hour are not bfp's unfortunately, they are evaporation lines. It is a cruelty of the tests to raise hopes. Are you very late for af to arrive or are you testing early?

hello rainbow days
pants. was somewhat wishful thinking.
af a bit all over the shop as hasn't returned to normal after dd's birth more than a year ago. last af was 7 wks ago so i think i am probably late... will try and hold off testing for a few more days.
thank you for your help

Enjoy the choccy biscuit! Just to put your mind at rest, test again in 3 days. I have tested early with my pregnancies, and I do get evap lines for a day or maybe two, but within three days the lines start appearing within the 10 minutes deadline. So you could check again in a couple of days to see if it has changed to a bfp. I take it your are ttc, in which case I hope that you get a bfp very soon.

I'd retest again in about a week, whenever I tested early it was no good, i tested 10 days after I was due and it came up within 5 seconds! enjoy the chocolate!

Would not keep testing; it is soul destroying to see repeated negatives.

If your periods are still irregular a year post birth it is often due to hormonal imbalances (a condition called polycystic ovaries is a common culprit, another possible cause is thyroid problems). A blood test should be done now to see what your hormone levels are like. A day 2 test can be done to see what your LH and FSH levels are like; these two hormone levels are usually the same but if they are off balance then ovulation can be affected. Also a cycle of over 35 days is often more than not anovulatory.

See your GP and get blood tests done. You can have blood tests done according to calendar days in the month (i.e the 2nd and 21st) so you won't have to wait for the next period.

Were they CB by any chance? I've always found CB rotten for evap lines. Superdrug own brand, otoh, I will buy any day of the week!

thank you ladies.
i am going to avoid testing until at least the weekend and then see where things are at. suspect af is around the corner lurking.
gp appt a good idea attilla - will book for next week.
