Hi,
I noticed your message had no replies so thought I'd answer what I could.

I am a Type 1 diabetic and have been given masses of info on diabetic (type's one and two) pregnancies and births. It seems that good control is paramount, you need to keep sugar levels as close to 'normal' and I had this emphasised to me a LOT! There are quite a few mum's on here, both type's, who have had sucessful pregnancies and it can be done! If the baby is big or there are issues controlling your sugar levels I understand they may recommend induction at around 38 or 39 weeks.

You may be better off mentioning that you want advice re Type 2 Diabetes and Pregancy in the subject box so someone is more likely to spot it.

Good luck!

Hi there,

I wasn't diabetic before I became PG but had to have the Glucose test because my Mum is type 2 diabetic and the test came back positive when I was 28 weeks PG.

Unfortunately for me, it meant insulin injections and because through the pregnancy it gets worse, I had to monitor the readings and levels of insulin that I injected with every meal.

BUT, my DD (who they said was going to be big) was induced only 2 days early and was only 7lb 8ozs and is now only on the 9th centile for her weight at 11 months old! So I guess I did a good job with my insulin monitoring!

So, it is absolutely fine as long as you monitor everything closely. I guess you may need to start taking insulin as your PG progresses but just keep on going to the diabetic antenatal clinic and they will help you.

You're probably a pro at it anyway if you're already diabetic, but really, you and your gorgeous DC will be fine!

Good luck!
