TTC but getting cramps for 2 weeks after OV til AF appears - anyone experienced the same?

I've been TTC for 8 months and have searched the web far and wide for reasons why I might get period-like cramps for 10-12 days before AF even starts (BTW - what does AF actually stand for? It's not on the acronyms list!).

I have 2 DD's already and am flippin' grateful to have them as I had PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) caused by an infection and I didn't know it til we tried for our first and after a year had surgery to check for Endometriosis - all blood tests were normal so no PCOS. The AMAZING surgeon had to remove loads of adhesions and scarring and unblock both my tubes which had fused at the ends. Two weeks later I conceived and had a girl (now 4).

I had an EP and lost a tube before conceiving my 2nd DD who is now 2.

I've had another laparoscopy recently to check my remaining tube is ok and it's not blocked (YAY!) but the surgeon said he can see no reason for the pain I get each month.

Has anyone experienced cramps after OV lasting til AF stops? They are not extremely painful but are constant and sometimes seem worse on one side (which at first I thought might be another EP - but are not). Has anyone got PG with these kind of cramps and did you still have the cramps even though you were PG?

I am on day 20 and the cramps started yesterday. I normally have a 30 day Cycle and I've got 10 agonising days to get through before AF comes. I need some help to get through it!

I can't help with the cramps but AF stands for Aunt Flo, which as you have gathered is a MN euphemism for menstruation.

Sorry, can't help you but I do experience the same thing. Only since I had my (copper) coil removed to start TTC no2. The first month I really thought I was pregnant as I had severe cramps with nausea and backache right from 7 days PO. Months later and I still get the same thing every cycle to a greater or lesser degree so I've just stopped getting my hopes up.

Oh, and having been a regular 28 day cycle for years I now ovulate on a different random day each month, just to help matters!

Will be watching this thread to see if anyone can come up with an answer.

Thanks- Casa, have you tried OV sticks? I tried them but it got too expensive! I seem to vary days too- last month my cycle was 32 days but month before was 29. It averages at 30 though.

I have tried to resist using any kind of stick TBH! I'm trying to remain relaxed about the whole thing, as it's fairly early days for us yet and we decided to just go with it for the first six months. However I may give in and start with the OPKs as at the moment I have no clue when I'm about to ovulate. You can get them cheap on Ebay if you are finding them expensive. Lots of sellers have them for around 25p each.

Oh that's good to know! I agree - was trying to be relaxed about it too but if you know when you've ovulated it saves you getting your hopes up when you're just having a long cycle.

CasaBevron - This website had a little more detail. Seems like the cramps might be quite normal.
