Spotting between cycles: Worried of East London

Really grateful for views/experiences. Especially if they are reassuring!

I've been lucky in terms of menstrual health - never any problems, and a clockwork cycle. Lightish periods, no pains, nothing odd going on between periods, EWCM exactly when I should ovulate, etc.

We have been trying to concieve our first this year. Last cycle I had one day (perhaps one and a half) of spotting exactly 6DPO (TMI alert: brown smears. Sorry!). I then had several BFNs and my period came.

This cycle, I again began spotting exactly 6DPO. This time the spotting has lasted three days (and counting). It has been brown smears as before, and also, charmingly enough, pinky-white discharge. It is too early to test if I am pregnant for this cycle, though the NHS Direct woman I spoke to last night suggest I POAS to confirm not pregnant from last cycle, and it was a BFN (again).

I'm seeing the GP Monday but in the meantime am a little freaked out. Has anyone else had this? Of course it's tempting to think 'implantation bleed', but it wasn't last cycle, and this cycle it's gone on too long.

The fact that I haven't had a smear test for 8 years is starting to bother me

I could probably post this on t'other thread but hey - I'm here now.

I've spotted between cycles on and off for the last few years and don't have anything wrong with my cervix. However, it could be your hormones doing something wild and wacky. Worth getting self checked out.

Of course, it could always be the lesser-spotting implantation bleed...

Hello Camel! I'm a bit mortified at making a fuss. This does cheer me a bit - THANK YOU! I think the NHS Direct lady not having a clue made me even more worried.

Hello BESH. Like Perfect up there, I have also have had on and off spotting for the last few years. At first I was freaked out and went for all the possible checks and was fine. This was before I was trying to TTC. Mine was always at the same time in the cycle - actually exactly around ovulation so the theory was that it was (something, I forgot what) follicle. Ie, when the follicle bursts to release the egg, as it does, it does so a bit more 'vigorously'. Anyway, I never had this theory confirmed. It being NHS they were happy that there was nothing 'horrid', and they really did send me for all the tests: smears, diseases and ultrasound. My theory, and please remember I AM NOT HEALTH PROFESSIONAL, is that if it is at the same time every cycle it is bound to be hormonal, right? If it was something worse it would not time when to come.

Anyway, I am trying to say that it could be anything and you should not panic a this stage though of course seeng the doc is the best. But as you know I have been trying to TTC for a while so maybe there is something hormonal going on, which I am hopefully on the way to find out... TBH, it has completely stopped for the last year or so so I haven't worried about it, but we'll see... Hope that helps. Wrote it in a rush so plese forgive me if I am being patronising / insensitive. Was just trying to say you are not alone - there are some more mid-cycle spotters on here. I had even weirder things happen, but about that some other time!

. Please don't worry. You've done what you can i.e. been proactive and made your appointment. Please don't worry.

Thanks BESHes. I honestly am normally a model of sang-froid and calm I promised. It's just it's so unusual you see. I'm going to stop thinking about. That'll do the trick. CanadianMountie not patronising at all, most sensible and reassuring. I'm going to stop Googling cervical diseases now ...

AmericanMountie! Not that I should complain, Canada sounds like the land of milk and honey.

Oh, no, don't google, if you only knew the amount of diseases I had confirmed by google!
