Hi, bumping this for you & hopefully one of the TTC knowledgable people will see it.
Let me first say I've never been pregnant and we're just starting to TTC so I can't vouch for any of these things yet...
I assume if you've been TTC for 9months that you're familiar with temp charting and checking your CM to find out when you're fertile? If not, get thee over to Fertility Friend and learn!
Apparently lots of people struggle to concieve because they think that women ovulate on cycle day 14 and that may well not be the case. I think I read that it has been known to happen as early as day 8 and as late as 18 but I'm sure some MNetters can testify to an even bigger range. Since the egg only lives for about a day after ovulation, you need to get the timing right.
In my googling, I came across this quite annoying woman, who seems to have a lot of interesting tips on maximising fertility. I haven't brought her book but I did sign up to a free 7 days/7 tips email thing from her and these were her 7 tips:
-Have frequent sex all through your cycle (and lots in the fertile bit), rather than just saving it all for the fertile window, as you want to have "fresh" sperm more maximum motility
-Don't use lubes like KJ as the petroleum base hinders the sperm in some way. Use PreSeed (buy online) as it actually helps give the sperm a nourishing environment to swim/survive in
-Drink lots of water as it increases the volume of cervical fluid produced
-Take 500mg of Vit C per day (but not more) as apparently this helps improve your CM in some way
-Coffee (or caffiene, I can't remember which ) intake is a significant factor in hindering conception. If you can possibly cut it out, do.
-Avoid tuna. It's more well known that you should avoid tuna when pregnant (mercury) but not so well known that it can reduce conception chances
-The good old "relax" recommendation. Although apparently laughter has the same effect on your body, so she recommends watching a comedy episode or somesuch in the evening to get 15 mins of giggles.
Most of those seem fairly easy and harmless so I figured I'd try and give it all a bit of a go.
However, if you're concerned/have irregular periods etc you'd probably be best seeing your GP to get blood tests etc to confirm that you're ovulating. In any case, if I was you I would definitely be seeing my GP in 2-3 months if you've still not had any luck.
Man that was long! Hope it helps. Good luck!
