Clomid & IUI

Hi Girls,

I know that there are threads already on subject and I keep searching for info but was hoping someone could please give advice or an opinion!

I am 41, we have been trying for 12 months to conceive and although we have just had lots of tests done which were all good and positive my consultant has still recommended I do clomid & IUI mainly because of my age. (20% chance per cycle she said)

Could I just do clomid alone and see if that works first or do I have to do both?

I have just bought a clearblue fertility monitor so planned to try that for 2 months then look at clomid - any thoughts on me waiting?

I appreciate it is difficult but I cant stop thinking about it. Firstly I am told I have good chance of getting pregnant naturally then at same consultant to try the above???(confused)

I already have a 2 year old and it only took 3 months that time so my fertility must be reducing in line with my age.

Anyone else going though this trying to decide what is best?

She even mentioned IVF but that is too expensive I think.(30% chance - )

xxx

Unfortunately trying one thing at once might not work for you as you don't have time on your side.

If he's recommended Clomid and IUI then do them at the same time IMO.

Use the clearblue but don't wait for 2 months your not gaining anything by doing it the other way.

Thanks - so should I use clearblue for just 1 month and if not successful move on?

Use them all. Go big or go home is what I say

Avoid using the clearblue especially whilst taking clomid as it will likely measure that level of drug instead (clomid can increase LH levels markedly and the kits read this).

BTW has your ovarian reserve and the quality of eggs actually been tested?. It would be something to ask about if this has not already been done.

Yes- reserve is ok for someone my age. I went to see the doc today and she has prescribed me clomid for 2 months then i will go back to UCH to do clomid and IUI.

She said it would be ok to use clearblue monitor? Should I call clearblue and ask?

Gosh this fertility stuff is complicated!!!

If you are worred about the actual IUI procedure. There is nothing to it
