Your period arrives 14 days after ovulation. Is your cycle always 27 days? If so, count on 27 days from the first day of your last period (so 19 March), then count back 14 days from then (so 5th March). But have a go today anyway! You never know... Good luck!

The assertion made that a period arrives 14 days after ovulation is incorrect. Ovulation is not an exact science and a woman can ovulate earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle. Even women with regualr cycles can have the occasional anovulatory cycle.

Please do not get too hung up on the "ovulation day"; it is all too easy to get that particular date wrong. Instead make love when you both feel like it regardless of where you are in the cycle.

Hi Attilla

you're right, but am I mistaken in thinking 14 days prior to first day of period is a good rough guideline?

You need to start noticing your mucus. It gets noticably heavier and stringier when you are ovulating. It is still early days for you yet but if after 9months nothing happens it might be worth asking GP for a blood test to check that you are ovulating every month.
Good Luck

thank you ladies sooo much for the quick response.
lucybarnes i watched that too, was very interesting :-) just lots of sex.

Ok so me and hubby did the deed (TMI) wed late night, thursday early morning and sat. hmmm hoping we may have a baby growing.

We aren't actively trying just for a baby we are just going with the flow of when we want to we will not making our selves that is no fun for anyone, just wondering if we got the right days :-)

My period is mostly 28 days but last few are 27, but it sais count from first day of last period till the day BEFORE your nest, so that makes me 26, so confussed lol

Hi kneedeepinlaundry,

re your comment:-

"you're right, but am I mistaken in thinking 14 days prior to first day of period is a good rough guideline?"

Well not really because again ovulation can occur earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle. Its not always the 14th day. This equally applies to women who have regular cycles (even these women can have the occasional anovulatory cycle).

Only around 12% of all women as well have a 28 day cycle so its a pretty poor guideline.

ttcbabyno3 · 08/03/2010 16:42

So does anyone think i may have a chance this month?

Slight pain in your right side sounds promising. I had a pain in my right side the month I conceived, which I am assuming was ovulation pain.

ttcbabyno3 · 08/03/2010 16:54

Oh i thought it was ovulation, but its past all that, im sure i had pain in right side with my DD, i keep getting very mild cramps really low down that last a little while and go. Im far to excited and prob getting my hopes up.
