Hi I would be really grateful for some advice please. Have a ds age 3 1/2 and been ttc again for 2 1/2 years. In that time have had two mc. I was referred for blood tests (testing for clotting, genetic abnormalities etc) and they have all come back clear. I have an appointment to see consultant tomorrow and I just wondered what the next step would be. I last saw him in November to get blood test results and all he did was tell me results were clear and told me to come back in four months. I wish I had insisted back then that something was done and I just hope I'm not fobbed off tomorrow.

Not been on for a while but thought I'd drop by and give you the latest.
Our problem lies with DH. His semen analysis has shown that they are plenty of them but there are only 12% of them swimming fast enough to reach the egg still alive. The morphology is really poor though with only 2% being correctly formed. The Doctor said that even if one of those 2% (remember it has to also be within the 12% that can swim fast enough) manages to reach the egg first then my body is likely to reject it after 'seeing' the quality of the others. He said that we need a form of IVF but we have to have more tests first to make sure that there is nothing else wrong as well. We should have had an appointment at the hospital today but they have had to re-schedule it for a couple of days before christmas! I am also waiting for an appointment for the dye scan to check my tubes are clear. We have been researching and have found out that we won't be entitled to fertility treatment on the NHS in our area so we'll also have to look at taking out a loan to fund treatment that only has a 33% success rate. DH thinks that we should just accept that it isn't going to happen but I'm not ready to give up yet!
Hope you're having more success than me, let me know how it's going. x

Hi chubbymummy - good to hear update ... sounds like they are finding out the problem which is a big step forward!

Is the dr saying you need ICSI? If so that is what the dr told us too when seen in July, although we saw the main NHS consultant in August and despite my dh's poor morphology and the fact that I appear nto to ovulate (no identified reason) he said "try for another 6mths then come back!!) That would take us to 13mths of our tests beginning!! So like you we have found a private hospital and our referral is going through, then a 10wk wait to be seen there. Am scared about finance too.

Do you know why you get no nhs funding? We get the bare minimum, which is 1 attempt - joy of postcode lottery, but we are in right age bracket, have no children, and my bmi is now ok. Definitely push to see if you can get one attempt, unless there is a reason why not.

I too have had a dye scan (HSG) to check tubes clear - they were and dh's had 3 SA tests now and one set of bloods taken. Definitely try to do all tests on nhs as these can be used by private place. Do ask gp to do: HIV, Hep B and Hep C for both of you, we have done that for private treatment!! And a chlymdia screen and recent smear!!

So - nowhere near treatment, but we know the main problem but not had dr tell us clearly about dh's morphology. We been recommended the menovit vitamins (australian) by our clinic for dh - going to try as his SA get worse each time and wellman vits done nothing. Worth a "google" to see what is in menovit - you can get the lycosene, garlic etc separately. All the best.
