Hey all,

So I gave three viles of my blood to a trainee nurse the other day, who asked: "After I insert the needle do I push up or down?", for the purposes of day 21 tests, and I'd like to ask if any of you ladies has been through this? Do you know what's next? Occasionally I glimpse on these boards that it takes an awful lot of time to get all the test done on the NHS. Is that the case? What would be the next step and how long will it take them to send us? I am kind of keen for the DH to get his side of things checked as he is a lot older, and I think I am ovulating as I have all the signs, OPK's say so, and don't feel any different from 2 yrs ago when I definitely was ovulating (they had to do checks for something else).
I am just worried that if something is not ok it will take them years to find out, let alone the time it may take to deal with it.

Sorry for the rant. Any experience anyone?

Hi MoutainFairy

Myself and my hubby had initial tests done on NHS, so I had day 2 (or maybe 3) blood tests done and day 21 bloods done, all were completely normal. My husband was also sent off for a test which came back fine. We then fast tracked with a private consultation, at this point I had an HSG to have my tubes checked, (all clear)and scans of my ovaries at various points during my cycle, my husband then had another more indepth sample looked at, morphology didn't look great (this wasn't checked at first NHS tests!!!) I then went on Clomid for three months (more scans for me) but no success and at this point I had to change consultants (initial consultant went on mat leave) My new consultant then ran another even more indepth test for my husband which was called something like a "swim up test" where they recreate what the sperm would have to do in real life and then measure how many make it to the end. These results came back fine so I then had a lap and dye which uncovered previously undiagnosed endometriosis. I had this removed and we conceived the next month. I think depending on what each test shows will depend on what further tests you need and what treatment is recommended though. Good luck

day 21 and day 3, now having sperm test and being refered to specialist - unsure of how long that will all take. Pretty crappy having to wait tho!

ps day 3/21 tests were done immediatly that cycle day came.

I started asking for testing at the end of Dec, so far husband has had his Semen Analysis - and I have day 21 day blood test done, plus a general blood test to check thryoid/full blood count etc. No day 2/3 test offered, no results from blood test yet, but have husband's results back. No real issues, just a bit low and sticky - not enough for them to re-test with or do anything about.

Now a two week wait before see Gp who I have a 20 minute appointment with, taking husband, to get my results and to ask for a referral. They have already picked up one issue from my initial blood test(high prolactin) and Gp asking questions about that for me.

Feels a long time,I guess the next issue is how long the referral takes. However, they will not refer until results of semen analysis I was told - and it is a very simple, quick and cheap test.

I have been ttc#1 for 17 months.
