Am I still able to conceive as normal?

Many thanks in advance.

Sorry about your painful periods Wuxiapian. I suffer from that too and found it got much worse when I became a teacher, even to the point of collapsing in the school corridors. Since my dcs it is much better but I thoroughly sympathise.

Well done on getting an appt in March, that's not too long to wait. A couple of months of trying inbetween and hopefully it will be superfluous!

Trying to be a little more romantic than planning, but when ds keeps coming into bed in the early mornings, we just feel plain knackered! Will just have to go to bed earlier then!

Good luck!

tadjennyp · 28/01/2010 20:35

Yay, Wuxiapian, you got the quote of the week in the Mumsnet newsletter! Well done you

clarebear1 · 28/01/2010 21:28

Im glad someone said 'cervical erosion doesnt actually mean ur cervix is eroding away!'

My doctors just said ive got this as ive been spotting after sex and randomly between periods, was getting a bit worried.

And glad to hear i can still concieve, mind at rest thanks x

tadjennyp · 29/01/2010 17:22

that's exactly what mumsnet is for clarebear1

Wuxiapian · 02/02/2010 16:30

How's things your side, tadjennyp?

I saw diff doctor yesterday for results for last blood test.

She said evrything was tested and was fine, but I'd not had the progesterone (sp?) 21 day test - which, she said should have been perhaps the first port of call. Tut.

So, I have to go for this test.

How the hairy heck do I know when I'm at day 21. I know it's 7 days before period, but what if my periods aren't bang on?

Tut again.

If you have a clear starting date for your period you count 21 days from then as the length of the cycle is calculated from the beginning of your period. You don't count backwards iyswim? I wouldn't have a clue as I don't know when they actually start because of the mid-cycle bleeding which goes on till there is lots of bleeding. How many times can you type bleeding in one sentence!

I'm glad going to a different doctor has meant an alternative opinion. I hope the test provides some sort of information that you can work with. Things are the same for me as ever, though with more sex, which is nice!

Wuxiapian · 02/02/2010 22:50

That's great to hear, tadjennyp - the sex part, anyway!!

Well, I thought it was 21 days from 1st day of period, but doc confused the issue a little. She said the peak in progesterone is 7 days before your period's due.

So, my last 2 cycles have been 28 days (they usually vary anywhere between 26 and 35 days), so she said to assume period'll be 28 days again and do test 7 days prior.

So much plotting and date-checking and faffery.

How long have you been experiencing the non-AF bleeding? I'm sorry if I'm being nosey or stating the obvious, but have you been tested for any kind of infections? When I first mentioned my inbetween bleeding, the nurse took swabs for any bacterial/other infection.

Tut.

And surey "Quote of the week" is prize-worthy?!

OP posts:
Wuxiapian · 02/02/2010 22:59

*surely

Surely, damnit!

OP posts:
tadjennyp · 03/02/2010 01:05

Yes, definitely prize worthy!

Went for the full she-bang the last time I went to the gynae and all came back normal. Am going back to the UK for three weeks next week, so that will be another month where nothing will happen. I'll be very pro-active when I get back in all ways!

It's so irritating when your cycle is unpredictable, isn't it? I'm always left feeling I've somehow missed the boat by a day or two when it comes in earlier!

Wuxiapian · 04/02/2010 17:26

What brings you over to Blighty, tadjennyp - business or pleasure?

Yes, sigh, trying to keep track of cycles/fertile times is a job in itself!

I'll go for my 21d test next mon/tue and hope this cycle's 28 days. Tut.

Ho hum.

Just want to point out that you should count back 7 days from the usual start of your period if you're having a day 21 test. It's called day 21 on the assumption that all women ovulate on day 14, which isn't true of course. If you have a longer cycle and usually ovulate on day 24, for example, the day 21 test will come back saying you aren't ovulating when that isn't the case. Having the test at the wrong time can really throw a spanner in the works and give you an incorrect diagnosis.

Hmmm...

Well, slowshow, it certainly seems that way. So, what am I to do?

OP posts:
tadjennyp · 04/02/2010 21:51

The doctor should have explained that to you when you mentioned how irregular your cycles are?

Bringing the dcs back to blighty so they can see their grandparents. The well off set don't seem to want to come and see them, but I'm not going to do all that travelling again on my own, and hopefully will have another baby to worry about!

Wuxiapian · 04/02/2010 22:07

"The well off set", tadjennyp?

I hope you and the little ones have a great stay. Do you travel back to the UK often?

My son and I are moving to Geneva within the next few months, so I have all the travelling malarky ahead (with, hopefully, a baby, too)!

OP posts:
tadjennyp · 04/02/2010 23:52

The set of grandparents who are well off! Geneva is beautiful, one of my friends has just moved from there to Zurich. Will you be going with your dp, Wuxiapian?

Wuxiapian · 05/02/2010 00:07

Ahhh, I see. Shame about the well-offs, tadjennyp.

How long've you been in the good, old US of A, and which part are you located?

My DP is already in Geneva - just the small matter of getting the kit-n-kaboodle kit-n-kaboodled (or something).

Massive move, but, deep amongst the angst, I'm looking forward to it.

OP posts:
slowshow · 05/02/2010 10:11

Are your cycles very irregular, Wuxiapian? Mine vary a bit (between 24 and 28 days) but they average out at 25 days. I track mine on Fertility Friend and it even does the sums for you. Can you not hazard a guess about when the best time might be for you? For me it would be about day 18.

Wuxiapian · 05/02/2010 10:47

My cycles do vary, slowshow. I've had a 26 day cycle and a 39 day cycle in the past (that being rare, admittedly).

However previous 2 cycles have been 28 days. Doc said I should assume it'll be the case this month and take test week before.

I understand it could read an incorrect result if I'm a day or 2 out, but there's no way of determining when I'm exactly at that point.

Doc said to check discharge at 14 days, and, it was kinda extra gooey (on mon), but still is now! I'll go next mon/tue and hope for the best!

OP posts:
slowshow · 05/02/2010 13:47

Sounds like you'll be fine then! Fingers crossed for you.

tadjennyp · 05/02/2010 16:48

It's funny how frank we can all be about the most intimate of matters! I can't imagine talking about my discharge to many people at all and for years thought that I was a bit weird being so sticky!

I'm in central Oregon which is beautiful and fantastic for the outdoor lifestyle. Loads of mountains and lakes, lots of skiing, hiking, camping, canoeing etc. We will have been here 2 years in May and are not even thinking about coming back in the next few years! We'll see, I miss my family and friends, and weird things like Boots, Sainsbury's, M&S, Next etc. I wouldn't mind stretching to Monsoon when we're back! Good luck in Geneva, it's also stunning! How's your French Wuxiapian? Fingers crossed for the test here too.

Wuxiapian · 06/02/2010 11:53

It's just as well, tadjennyp we have this medium!

My Franglais isn't too hot, but I've been reliably informed that Migros have a language school. So, once the Wuxiapian contingency has landed, I'll be thrust into it forthwith.

Oregon sounds fantastic! We'll have similar kinda lifestyles, it seems - that is, if I break outa the lazy mould!

So, I thought I was ovulating on mon, but this morning there was a gush of milkiness (sorry to be graphic), so now wondering if I should take the test a week from now.

Maybe I ought to start pondering these much-mentioned ovulation kits...

When do you depart for UK?

You be having yourself a fantabulous saturday!

OP posts:
tadjennyp · 07/02/2010 23:50

Yes the ovulation kit may be worthwhile getting.... Can you take the test on a Saturday?

DD's birthday party was yesterday, which was great. I'm meant to be doing my Spanish presentation today (give it on Tuesday evening) but am MNing instead! We're flying on Wednesday morning and am nervous about all the connections we have to make!

I hope you take the test on the right day!

Wuxiapian · 09/02/2010 16:46

You're a busy bumblebee, tadjennyp.

Hope you won the presentation battle!

I went for blood test this morning - day 21. AF had better arrive next tues - or not at all!

Safe trip for journey tomorrow!!
