Does long distance flying affect cycle length?

I did a 10 hour flight recently and have just had the longest cycle length ever; 36 days when normally I am 28 - 33 days.

Depends if it was around ovulation - if it was it could have delayed ovulation. The time between ovulation and period is pretty standard its the time to ovulation that can be affected by stress.

Well, I flew out on day 2 of cycle and home again day 9.

If I was due to ovulate on day 14, I wouldn't have been over jet lag by then, so it could have been delayed?

A friend of mine believes she conceived on the mini-pill by flying to Japan at a crucial moment (there was no mile high club type incident, I think she thinks she didn't take the pill at the right time of day as a result).

I did a 24 hour flight to Oz this month-should have ov the day I arrived but ended up 4 days later. I think it was the stress of the move and the long flight that made me ov later.

Not sure if the same can happen early in a cycle, but I would think that anything that messes your hormones up before ov could delay it and give you a longer cycle

I fly for a living, with at least one long haul flight a month, and have cycles which are regular at 27-29 days. Last month was 32 days, but as far as I can tell the defining factor which could have affected that was a night out with my best friend where we drank till we both fell over!
