Hi all,

I'm getting myself in a tizz and really stressed out, I have no idea what's going on with my cycle.

I came off the pill in July, and in terms of my cycle getting back to normal- I missed the first period and then it settled back regular again.

I worked out roughly when I thought I'd be ovulating, and we bd'd during the window.

Now, I'm on CD34 and my period hasn't shown up. I've been feeling nauseous on and off with sore boobs, but 3 BFNs later I'm feeling fed up and stressed out.

I keep not wanting to get my hopes up, but I've never been this late before, however the tests keep being negative.

I don't know what to think or what to do, and I'm getting myself in a right tizz.

Does anyone have any words of calm or wisdom?

What tests are you using?

MadameG · 06/12/2009 17:13

I used First Response quite early on, and 2 Boots own brand ones in the last 9 days.

MadameG

It sounds like your body is gearing up for a period to arrive. I would not keep testing in your circumstances, seeing repeated negatives as well can be an awful experience.

Make love when you both feel like it, you cannot think of conception in terms of bd during the window (and you need to make love throughout the cycle as well). Ovulation is not an exact science and a woman can ovulate earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle. Take the pressure off yourself and try not to work out exactly when you are ovulating. It is all too easy to get the date wrong.

You do not give your age but if you are over 35 and have been ttc for six months plus without success then a visit to the GP is in order

Ok, I won't test again.

I thought from reading everybody's experiences on here that tracking ovulation was the way to go because conceiving is hard.

I'm 30.

Just thought I better clarify- we haven't only babydanced during when I thought I was ovulating.

Still no period, or any sign of it.

MadameG - it may be that your periods just haven't quite settled down yet. After coming off the pill mine seemed to go into a regular pattern quite quickly, but then got longer and longer for a few months, going up to 60 days at one point (was grim, getting my hopes up each time), they finally settled down into their pattern only after about 8 months. So it may still be that. Or, stress can delay periods too.

feel for you though, its not fun at all.

I used to test all the time but they're really is no point, try and leave a good week at least between each test. I just ended up being cross with myself for wasting so much money and energy on them

MadameG · 07/12/2009 16:58

Eeek, 60 days! Nightmare!

They've been regular for the last 4 or 5 times, but as you say, maybe they've gone out of sink again.

I'm definitely not going to do any more tests for a while, it's really upsetting to get that single line.

I guess I'll just leave it for another week or 10 days, and if still nothing I could either see my GP or shudder do another (probably negative) test.

We've also decided to invest in a Clearblue Fertility Monitor so that when things have settled down we can track my cycle more effectively in terms of conceiving.

yeah was grim! I hated seeing negative tests, have never had a positive one, its awful. but I find not having them in the house restrains the urge to do another one, and yes, definitely leave a good week between each test otherwise its so miserable
