To take aspirin or not?

After Christmas we will be TTC again. I've had 2 MCs and 1 MMC. We do have a DD 2.5 (pregnancy no 3)so we don't get offered tests on the NHS and I'm sceptical as to what answers they will give me.

From the research I have done I'm thinking that taking baby aspirin and asking for early regular scans will improve our chances of bringing a sibling into the world and I plan to talk to my GP about it before TTC again. I haven't been diagnosed with antiphospholid syndrome, I'm just thinking as a precaution. I do have an underlying thyroid condition but it's in remission with no meds and has been for 10 months now.

Just wondered what your thoughts are?

were you hypo or hyperthyroid?

Hyperthyroid. I have Graves disease that has had two flare ups, once when initially diagnosed and again after the birth of my DD. Both times responded well to block and replace treatment.

Could this be a deciding factor?

i don't know anything on the thyroid side of it, but i took baby aspirin (and progesterone) in my only successful pregnancy, after two unexplained miscarriages. I was told by two consultants it couldn't hurt and might help to start taking it after a BFP, so I did so, up until 30 weeks or so.

Taking 75 mg of dispersible asprin won't hurt. It seems to be becoming more supported now by drs and consultants.
I am just pregnant after 4 mc and 1 ds who is 8.(sticky thoughts please girls)
I am taking the asprin and have just been prescribed cyclogest.

I would deffinatley take the asprin, it will help maybe ease your anxiety that you are doing everything you can and that is a huge help. The chemist recommended the dispersible as better at making an asprin baby btwGood luck.

Take the aspirin, unless any medical reason not to - I have had 2 m/c, and the consultant who scanned my second m/c said, that although he couldn't do m/c tests until I had 3 m/cs, he would give mesome drugs if I came to his clinic - one of which would be aspirin. So, I have started taking it already whilst ttc, just in case...I tend to stop when on my period, due to its blood thinning properties, but apart from that, I just take it all months round along with my folic acid.

I think that this is something that requires more study.

Cool, thanks for that. I plan to talk to my doctor before going ahead as I want his backing with early scans etc going down the more support better chance of sticking theory (might ease the 3 months of panic a bit if nothing else), and to make sure the asprin won't effect my Graves Disease. It's just good to know others have taken asprin without going through all the tests and been diagnosed with antiphospholid syndrome. Like mermaid said, you need to feel you're doing everything you can.

Mermaid thinking super sticky thoughts for you and good luck TTC for all those trying.
Hmm Asprin baby, my DD was sponsored by Rennie.

Grave's disease can carry an increased risk of miscarriage and can affect fertility. It is very common (about 80% my GP said recently) to become under-active once you have been over-active and this also affects fertility (any symptoms, it's easily treated?).

It's worth having a read-up about Grave's and fertility. There are some good reputable websites.

Good luck with your GP, I'm sure he will provide you with the right support and guidance. Of-course, it may well be nothing to do with the Graves but it could be worth exploring.
