Anyone been to a fertility accupuncture/ nutritionist?

Just wondering if anyone can help me.

Firstly has anyone had accupuncture or seen a nutritionist for fertility reasons and did it help at all?

I'm looking for a clinic that can do this in london (althought I haven't ruled out travelling a bit further if it's less expensive!). Just phoned the Zita West clinic but was very unimpressed. The charges are much higher than advertised on the web site, the receptionist was a bit rude and she wasn't able to tell me anyhing about the treatments. Also appointments seem difficult to get. Does anyone know of or has anyone been to anywhere they could recommend.

Thanks in advance.

I've been to a fertility nutritionist who recommended a low-carb style diet. I conceived during the week I lived mostly on drive-thru...

High protein was recommended to me. I had some protein powder in milk shakes in the morning.

Yep I've been seeing an acupuncturist who is part of the Zita West network (but outside London).

I can honestly say it is worth it 100% - no idea if i am PG yet or not but I have become noticeably more relaxed, I am much more chilled about the whole TTC thing and i think if nothing else it has got to be good for you to be forced to lie still and quietly for an hour or so every fortnight and just let everything go for a bit (and to be fussed over by a nice sympathetic lady!).

My acupuncturist gave me lots of excellent advice on nutrition (which was basically drink more water and apart from that try to eat a little bit of everything, don't make drastic changes, don't cut something out totally and if you want a glass of wine or some cake have it - as a treat not every day - rather than obsess about the 'perfect' TTC diet, although if possible/economic try to eat organic, try to eat more protein and try to cut down on processed, sugary or white foods) and is full of common sense about other things too.

I really recommend it. I am on fortnightly appointments and after each one I am literally glowing, DH is really impressed!

Good luck!

i did acupuncture for more than a year, with two different people, both ttc naturally and IVF, etc.

Both of the acupuncturists were lovely, but it just didn't seem to have any effect on me at all, even other issues i had, like poor sleep.

I ended up conceiving (naturally) about two months after stopping it.

That said, i did conceive (later miscarried) after seeing a reflexologist a couple of times, so who knows?

There was a thread about this a few weeks ago and a few people made specific recommendations in London here. I'm in the SW, so my lovely acupuncturist won't be much good to you.

I've just started acupuncture and chinese herbs, with the twin aims of either a BFP or, if not that, then not crying every time AF arrives. He's sorted out that one in three weeks, so I have some hope for the BFP. And I feel so much better - more alive and energetic than I have done since my pregnancy.

Thanks everyone! Booked appointment for accupuncture and nutritionist at the Helix Clinic today.

If nothing else hopefully it should help me feel less stressed!

Yes, I saw a nutritionist at Zita West called Mel Brown -- she was truly outstanding and definitely played a part in helping me to conceive. My husband saw her as well and his fertility improved dramatically (which is what I think largely helped me to fall pregnant).

I'm so sorry you were treated poorly. I have been going there for over a year for accupuncture and nutrition and have always felt incredibly supported and well taken care of. I also always book my appnts 1-2 days before so I don't know why the silly receptionist was being so difficult!

The only two people that have a waiting list are Zita west herself and Anita (one of the head midwives). Otherwise getting in should be a breeze!

I know that one of the main receptionists is on maternity-leave so perhaps you just fell on a temp who wasn't very good?

In any case, Mel Brown is excellent.

best of luck
