Right ....... stopped taking the pill 7 weeks ago had withdrawel bleed and then nought, niente, nothing, zilch! I have had horrible symptoms (nausea, bad taste, off food, cramps, hot flushes ... the lot!)I took a test yesterday and was negative. I am now due to have my flu jab and my swine flu jab. They wouldn't give me my flu jab last week 'just in case' but said to wait, keep testing and it is up to me if I take the chance and have it. What would you do??? and when should I be worried that i haven't had a period?

What were your periods like prior to taking the pill?. If they were irregular in nature back then the chances are they will revert to irregularity now.

The pill though has not caused this, what it has done though is mask the symptoms of a possible underlying hormonal imbalance.

A "normal" cycle is a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days or with less than fur days of variation from month to month.

Sometimes these problems are caused by hormonal imbalances. You could have a blood test done at the beginning of your cycle (as periods are irregular the blood test can be done according to calendar days) to see what your hormone levels are like. Two hormones should be tested; these are LH (luteinising hormone) and FSH (Follicles stimulation hormone). LH and FSH are important as they kickstart the ovulation process; if the levels of these two are out of balance then ovulation will be affected.

If you took a test yesterday and it was negative I would tell the GPs this fact and go by their advice then.

I barely remember what my periods were like before. I was about 16 or 17 when I started taking it because they were really painful, regular though I think. I am 30 now!

Should I be worried?
