Go chulita !!! Congratulations.

teafan you naughty girl. Shell suit????? Shirazz I never believe the 'one time' argument with teens, either.

My fancy monitor is still saying 'high'. I have oestrogen! Now just waiting for that little 'peak' (watch out, DH!)

goldieandthreebears · 17/11/2009 12:15

kind ladies, please give me some advice!

I couldn't resist and did another FR test this morning and again got a BFN. I know I am only on CD22, so possibly too early, but I've been having symptoms. Boobs tender and feeling nauseous on and off, so was expecting at least a very faint second line.

Now I am doubting myself and thinking that all these symptoms are in my head and not real.

So what do you think. Could I still be preggers?

stuffedmk · 17/11/2009 12:22

Could be.
Leave it a little while if you can and test again closer to AF time.
Like it's that easy lol!!

goldieandthreebears · 17/11/2009 12:31

thanks stuffdmk. The tests are burning a hole in my drawer!

i know I'll give in and test again this week...

shirazz · 17/11/2009 12:44

Goldie - day 22 is quite early. When did you Ovulate? Doesn't it take at least 7 days for implantation and then a couple of days for Hcg to be detected even with the most sensitive test? I thought, anyway.

shirazz · 17/11/2009 12:47

I may be wrong.... what has the earliest been that anyone has had a positive test? Fingers xed for you

goldieandthreebears · 17/11/2009 12:49

shirazz, not quite sure when I ovulated. BD was on days 9 and 11, so I thought that sensitive tests should start being pos by now?

shirazz · 17/11/2009 13:12

but it would depend when you ovulated not when you BD as to when the pregnancy could be detected iyswim? If you ovulated on say day 15, and hopefully the swimmers from the 11th are still around, then it's only been 7 days since you possibly conceived which isn't very long.

mabh · 17/11/2009 13:17

I knew these would come up again... Here you go, girls (are you listening, goldie ?)

Percentage of +ve tests at various days past ovulation...

10 dpo - 35%
11 dpo - 51%
12 dpo - 62%
13 dpo - 68%
14 dpo - 74%
15 dpo - 80%
16 dpo - 88%
17 dpo - 92%

I don't know what the source is, but I'd more prepared to believe this than the marketing on the HPT pack.

So - I know is's tricky, but - KEEP YOUR MONEY! At least wait a few more days.

shirazz · 17/11/2009 13:27

Thanks mabh! Very handy!! (Sorry didn't see it the first time)
My dh always gives me a speech about too much poas - says what difference does it make if you know 1 week sooner erm... a lot thanks

Cazzr · 17/11/2009 13:37

Goldie&3Bears: I couldn't resist POAS today either, and i'm day 22 like you... I doubt I am pregnant (very little 'complete' BDing because of interruptions from poorly DS) but I had 20 cheapies from ebay burning a hole in the packet! LOL
Needless to say it was BFN but seems we were a bit keen anyway so going to wait till weekend before next test, because I can't possibly wait till I'm late, too damned impatient even if I'm sure AF will arrive as expected..

Mabh: thanks for info, quite interesting to see the jump in percentages as each day goes by..

shirazz · 17/11/2009 13:40

Found this too on www.peeonastick.com
How soon can I test? Well, first you gotta know how the test works. Briefly: the home pregnancy test (HPT) works by detecting a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG.) When an egg is fertilized, it takes about 6 to 12 days to implant in the uterus, and then it begins to secrete hCG. It takes another day or two for enough hCG to build up and make its way into your pee. So, generally speaking, the earliest you can expect a positive HPT is 8 days past ovulation ("DPO") and the latest would be about 16 DPO. It is possible to get a positive test earlier or later, but not as common. In my experience, if you use a sensitive "early" test (anything that detects 25 mIU/mL of hCG or less) you can test around 12-14 DPO and feel reasonably secure with your results (the later you test, the more secure you can feel in its accuracy.)

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

Note: some HPT's say "test 5 days before your period is due!" or some such thing. Please note they are assuming a textbook 28-day cycle, with ovulation on Day 14. "5 days before your period is due" thus really "translates" to 10 DPO.

mabh · 17/11/2009 14:04

There's a website called peeonastick.com?????

goldieandthreebears · 17/11/2009 14:04

mabh, shirazz, thanks for info, quite different to the marketing jargon on the packages!

I will stop wasting my money and wait till AF is due (will try anyway)

cazzr fingers crossed for you this weekend

mabh · 17/11/2009 14:08

I know. I was in marketing for 18 years.

Oops! Given my age away again!

shirazz · 17/11/2009 14:34

I know! I loled big time when I saw that website!! Oh and sorry to take over the thread

randomimposter · 17/11/2009 16:55

OH BLIMEY.... not sure I wanted to see all the DPO testing info again.... it's just all too bloody tempting!!!!

Have had some more spotting in the last few days, and low cramping. Which in 2ww madland makes me think it's implantation bleeding. Dunno for sure when I OV but think I am 10-12 DPO... was going to wait til next Monday....now I'm not sure I can wait that long.....

Maybe Saturday...? BUT not sure I can bear the NOT PREGNANT as sadly it's a 2 pack of Digi burning a BIG hole in my sock drawer...

Besides there are lots of people sitting closer to the front.... who will POAS next - tune in folks for more updates....

KayloFireworks · 17/11/2009 17:13

Hi Girls

I know I'm AWOL most of the time but can I please update you with my BFP please

I peed on a First Response yesterday, cd24, and it gave me a wonderful BFP.

Tested again this morning with another FR and got another BFP.

Am very sick already which is what made me test, also very exhausted too.

Good Luck To Everyone Else Testing

hoops997 · 17/11/2009 17:32
