Hi. I am just at the begining of an egg donation cycle. I am donating to friends of very very good friends who have had several cycles and have reached this point.

I started a thread previously, but have started one with donation in the title, I think lots of people think about donating or recieving donor eggs, and so I thought this might be interesting.

This is the 2nd day of treatment.

I have 2 girls, 5yo and nearly 9 months. I have wound up the breastfeeding onver the last few weeks to allow the treatment to commence. It was hard juggling the needs of the baby against the needs of the couple - I think I hit a good half way house. 8 months exclusive bring is nothing to sniff at from bubba pov [though I think she would go and go an go], and 8 months wait was quite enough for this couple. In my opinion, they have been nothing but accomodating and thoughtfull and lovely and would have waited and waited. It must be so hard for them thuugh.

I kind of hope to relactate - that will be another thread!

So here we go, wish us luck. I'm hoping the power of mumsnet will send many positive vibes our way.

Bring on the questions btw - I'm really happy to answer and explain anything.

Hi all and especially treedelivery

My news? We have got our donor!

It was confirmed today.

She is an altruistic donor and although there were other possible options (altruistic/egg sharer) I just got a gut feeling for this lady, and she could start soon which was a real bonus for us after waiting so long.

The lady at the clinic, who helped sort it out, gave us the details and said it was our choice. It was funny because really the two best options were so similar!

Because it was not a known donor you only get really limited details of the donors, you don't see a picture etc in this country.

In some clinics you don?t get a choice at all, they try and advise who is best for you. When they are able to offer choices they do seem to do so but I can only speak for our clinic which is part of a chain of clinics, not sure how others work.

Anyway, praise God, feel fab, it is all sorted and we really are at the start again!

Our donor sounds perfect to me. So kind and great, whatever happens we will have given it our shot.

Trouble is I have spoken to people on a couple of other threads so currently trying to pass on the news in a few different, more relative, ways!

Start treatment next week! [dancing smilie face icon]

All the best to all.

Hi Treedelivery, have been thinking about egg donation for a little while and having read an article in a women's mag today, decided to consult the oracle of mumsnet for info - I found your thread really helpful and inspiring, thank you.

I'm going to give our local clinic a ring tomorrow, but would you mind if I asked you a couple of questions off board please - generally to do with the level or discomfort. Do you have CAT?

Hi Treedelivery

Sadly, our treatment failed. We are now looking into adoption.

But I am very grateful for our perfectly, wonderful donor who made the attempt possible.

All best wishes to you, Tree.

Hello again.

Italiangreyhound - I'm so so sorry. I have a friend, her brother adopted a little girl. He says he is now actually glad their IVF never worked, she was his daughter and he was meant to find her.

I know you must wish things were different for you rght now, but I realy really hope that you find your chld, and that your circle is completed as soon as it was meant.

Let us know how the road goes.

mooki - sure thing!

The egglet continues to prosper

I just read this whole thread again, and felt the rush of those weeks back in the autumn.

Thank you all for all your support. Your cheerleading and pom-pom shaking seems to be doing the trick.

Thabnks everyone. Hello EdgarAllenPoo.

I am glad for their sakes, they will soon get very used to her for her sake - but I guess it makes the whole 'who does she look like' easier for them. They can say 'Daddy' adn that's that.

For me, it doesn't matter. Truly. That is not my chld, so had she looked like me, it would have been an interesting point, but no. No heart strings pulled.

I can honestly say I am see everything from their point of view, and from this new individuals point of view. SHe may develop traits or personality or looks that are a throw back to me as she moves through life - it will be so interesting to watch her grow and see where her path leads.

If that's what the family choose - they may find they want to have distance now. I would totally understand that.

It's amazing. Seems no time since it was all blurry images of follicles on scan. Now it has a babygro on!!!!
