Wow, I've just stumbled across this site it looks fab!! Hi there by the way. I was just wondering if anyone has conceived twins naturally? Or in the process of trying for twins and has any experience or advice they would like to share. I am extremely lucky as I already have 2 gorgeous children, but would dearly love to have "twigglets"

i have twins, and they just happened as they are identical so that means the egg split after conception. Its random. On the other hand fraternal twins (non id) are where you have two eggs that both get fertilised. I think i would be right in saying (corect me if not as im not an expert) but i think they implant more than one for fertility treatment, hence there are a lot of twins about from that method. Some women just release more than one egg at a time. I do know that older mums are more likely to conceive twins....

I concieved fraternal boy/girl twins naturally and they are 8 weeks old today but its certainly not something you can plan to do!!

Even IVF cannot guarantee twins!!

I love my 2 to bits but a twin pregnancy really takes it out of you and when they arrive you are constantly on the go!!

How and when did you know it was twins? I am 5.3w after taking Clomid which is fertility medication to encourage you'd body to ovulate. There is a slightly increased risk ok twins. I have slight stomach ache which is apparently stretching, I didn't have that last time I was of (although I MC at 12w)

There is nothing you can do to influence conception of twins naturally. If you have one set then you are more likely to have a second set, but that's about it.

These days, with fertility treatment such as IVF, they don't tend to put more than one embryo back.

Ooooh I really want twins too! Find them fascinating! Dh's mum is a twin, but don't think it will fun in the family as she has a boy twin. I know it'd be a lot of hard work with twins but naively thinking as I have no dc's yet, at least I won't have an "easier" experience to compare to. Of course it's highly unlikely, and I'd be over the moon with just 1!

If you have a number of twins on your mums side you may be more likely to concieve non-ID twins. This is because you may have inherited the ability to ovulate 2 eggs from your mum. But the increased chance is still only quite small. ID twins are just pot-luck!!

Just a note though- twin pregnancies carry a much higher risk of complications, so can make for a very difficult and stressful time.

Good luck!
