Honestly? Would say you need to be prepared for whatever gender you get. You can hope for one or the other, but especially with irregular cycles you'd have a hard time doing the Shettles method because the day you ovulate is most likely changing every month.

I have irregular cycles due to PCOS, but know when I ovulated due to temping. Am pregnant now with a boy, but the Shettles method would have said I'd be more likely to have a girl because we had sex 3 days before ovulation!

So there are no guarantees. I'm sure you'll get stories from people who think it works, but there are equally going to be many stories from people where it hasn't worked.

thanks yankncock, I was thinking about testing with ovulation sticks for 5 days and stop having sex the day I get a positive, not sure how else I can do it.

It would be lovely to have a sister for our son, but as long as they are happy and healthy thats all that matters.

Hi Becky

I was in a similar situation when trying to conceive our 2nd child, we already had a girl and my husband wanted a boy this is what we followed.

My dd was only 5 months old when we started trying and my cycles hadn't returned to normal and had no pattern whatsoever, so I did what you suggest - use ovulation sticks. Slightly different when you're trying for a girl though cos you're supposed to babydance in the days before ovulation.

I hope this helps xx

Thanks Kaylo! I think ovulation sticks are going to be the only way forward.......they cost a bomb!

You're welcome

I used to get my ovulation sticks from eBay - i think they used to cost me around £2 plus postage for about 10 of them - I didn't think that was too bad.

Originally I used to get them from the chemist and you're right it cost a FOOOOOORTUUUUUNE!!
