Hayfever and TTC...

Hi folks

Anyone else suffer from hayfever and is TTC'ing? I know antihistamines are supposed to have a drying-up effect, but can't think how I will go without for the summer season. Are there any herbal options that aren't a TTC issue? Any advice would be great!

Thanks and happy Bank Holiday all!

Hi Worrisome. I was having really bad hayfever last spring, so I asked if I could take them in pre-ov half of my cycle. My doctors told me I could take antihistamines until I knew I was pg and then to go in and they'd see what they could do. However, they took a long time to call me back so in the meantime I'd called NHSDirect who told me not to take them at all , so then I asked a pharmacist, to get a third opinion, and they said that it is dangerous to the baby to take them and they are best avoided for 3 months prior to ttc. The pharmacist didn't have any other recommendations either. I have read about something which can help though on a pregnant lady's blog. It was from Lloyds pharmacy and called the allergy reliever, apparently it's a cheap version of 'Medinose'. I've not seen either but might be worth a try.

My hayfever didn't come back after the first week last year though, so you may be lucky. Apparently it goes in 7-year cycles, so once you've had it for seven years you may not get it again.

Thanks Issy, I was thinking maybe I could get away with it when I know I'm not pg, but I think I might just have to suffer. At least I generally only get it for the first couple of months of summer, so only 7ish weeks to go! I'm definitley not lucky in terms of the 7 year cycle, have had it all my life, not one year off yet! Will look for the medinose thingy...
