lalatv i cannot advise you but

have taken aspirin in my last three pregnancies just becasue i was advised to take it after fertility treatment years ago (2003)

good luck

lalatv · 01/05/2009 07:15

No i havent, never even took a bloody parecetomol...

I dont know your full circumstances, as well as whether you were thinking of taking the oral/injected/topical version of progesterone?

just thought I could give advice on the actual drug side of things, with having my medicine interact qual.

As well as you know, theres actually no evidence to support the fact progesterone when taken after positive pregnancy test can be of any help. Has the doc told you why you miscarried the previous times?

Hi latatv I had 2 mc's last year and am now 23 weeks pregnant. I did ask my gp about the aspirin after my secong mc and she did a coagulation blood test first which came back normal, so I haven't taken anything just hoped for the best. Congratulations and I wish you lots of luck

lalatv · 01/05/2009 20:22

sorry was at woork...i don't know why i mcarried the other times, it seems it was bad luck...however, my specialist will see me tomorrow(privately) to prescribe some progesterone and aspirin so i can get started...it will make me feel better...thanks vjay for sharing your story, that's what i love to hear!! anybody else>??

as sson as i got the positive

kept taking it till 14 weeks although one registrar said 34 weeks

Chellesgirl · 02/05/2009 12:21

Suzi...why did that reg say 34 weeks! The aspirin is used to open blood vessels in the womb so baby can implant deep. Progesterone is just used to stop body rejecting the embryo. Surely past 12 weeks, baby would have detatched itself from womb wall anyway and isnt classed as an embryo now?

A success story, somewhat like you need lalatv, just no apirin...

"The Dr. Prescribed me Progesterone just so I would feel like I was doing all I could, but I didn't take it very long. Not to put a downer on anyone else using it, but one of my Dr.'s in the practice went to a conference and learned that Progesterone has only been proven to be effective in patients that are going through Fertility Treatments. She basically said I could keep taking them, but all it might be doing is prolonging the inevitable. Progesterone is needed to facilitate implantation and to prevent rejection of the developing embryo. A MC, in a lot of cases, is your body's way of saying that something wasn't right with a pregnancy and isn't caused by something that you did. To me it makes sense. If you take progesterone and there is something wrong with the baby, the supplement may just hold off an actual MC. When she explained everything to me I decided to leave it all in God's hands. Here I am 34 weeks pregnant with what seems to be a heathly baby boy. Although, taking the supplements will not harm you or the baby. Other than that, I did nothing else to help it along, other than relax. My Husband and i weren't trying because I was told to wait one cycle. It actually happened on vacation at my sister's house. We had one opportunity and, well, I guess its true what they say, it only takes one time. "

ouah chellesgirl, that is a good story!! I must say it only took one time for me too...however, the previous mcs, it only took one time and mcrried so i am worried that sperm quality is not good, which means that vad ones may have feconded the egg...coming back to you progesterone story, i went to Dr (specialist in mcs)this am and he prescribed cyclogest 200mg and aspirin 75mg...when i asked if that may make an unhealthy baby grow, he said that it wouldn't. so i don't know.....how do u insert it by the way? i saw u could either do it rectally or vaginally depending of condition....
what do u all think?

Depending on the following conditions. You should insert Cyclogest into the:

Vagina if you have:
Colitis (inflammation of the colon causing frequent attacks of diarrhoea with mucous or blood)
Problems controlling your bowel movements (faecal incontinence).

Rectum if you have:
A vaginal infection (discharge from your vagina (thats not normal- just to add))
or often have cystitis (a burning pain on passing water)
Recently given birth
To use a barrier method of birth control such as a diaphragm, cap or condom. Such devices may not work properly in the presence of the vegetable fat from the pessary.
How to insert Cyclogest
Always wash your hands before and after inserting the pessary.

To insert into the:

Vagina - place the pessary between the lips of the vagina and push the pessary upwards and backwards. You may find it easier to do this if you are lying down or squatting.
Rectum - gently push the pessary into the rectum for about one inch. Your muscles will hold the pessary in place when it is in far enough. Squeeze your buttocks together for a few seconds.

After using Cyclogest you may notice some leakage after the pessary has dissolved. Do not worry, this is quite normal when using medicines that are inserted into the vagina or rectum.

Dont use if you experience ANY kind of spotting/bleeding...If you do, go back to GP.

Btw...lalatv....Dont put the aspirin up you bum/in you flange...swallow like normal

Chellesgirl

No idea - one said 14 weeks one said 34

Chellesgirl · 02/05/2009 21:24

Its strange though, as cyclogest and other makes of progesterone are those drugs that are not actually meant to be used for preventing miscarriages, just PND and bad PMS. Doctors think it may help so offer it.

lalatv · 02/05/2009 22:05

that is strange i agree. soo in my situation: vaginal or rectal???

OP posts:
Chellesgirl · 02/05/2009 22:40

well...I would say rectal been as you have had cyst removed from ovaries. But to be honest, cant believe doc never told you...

lalatv · 02/05/2009 22:54

well, i will try...anybody with different thoughts??
