Does anyone ocassionally 'have milk' despite not being pregnant or breastfeeding?

Reason I ask, I've been feeling distinctly pregnant recently (not due on until at least tomorrow). I've had ovarian cramping every day since ovulating (about day 14), hyper sense of smell, lots of CM (sorry), and this week I've had sore nips. Just like last time, in fact.

In fact, today, I had that slight mastitis-y feeling, so I had an experimental fiddle when DS had gone to bed, and milk came out!

Now, my DH has a medical condition which means he needs to have fertility treatment for us to conceive. He hasn't been on it that long, and we only managed to have sex once this month. (Well, I can't do everything).

I resisted posting until now, but I just needed to bore someone with it.

What do you think?

(Feel free to post 'wait for a week and stop obssessing you silly mare' type comments. I probably need a kick up the arse.

Have you had a child before? I never stopped making milk between dd who is 2.3 and who I stopped bf at 4 months and this pregnancy! I reckon sometimes the hormones hang around a bit. Then again, you could be pg!

DS is 25 months, and I stopped breastfeeding him at 8 months.

That's what I wanted to know, really. I mean, I don't regularly try milking myself, iyswim.

Otoh, I'm feeling very tender in that department, which is unusual for me.

Thanks for responding.

Anyone else? DH is out tonight (3rd night in a row), and I'm going quietly mad.

Ok, I shall gracefully retire.

Thanks again Lissyglitter.

This can actually be caused by excess prolactin levels (a hormone that can interfere with the ovulation process). Would seek medical advice from your GP, it can be treated with tablets.

thanks ATM. Did a bit of checking, and it looks unlikely, as I don't have any of the other symptoms.

And it was only a teeny bit of milk.

Also, My blood levels are checked every year by a haemotologist (for a competely separate reason).

yes - I am still filling up nearly ten months after having dd as is another mate on my antenatal thread. Apparenlty you can go on producing for a long time afterwards (years in some cases).

You sound preg to me!

Every time I've been preg (3 times so far) I've known for sure because I've had a few specs of milk on inspection, it's a sure sign for me. Add that to the tenderness, exhaustion, hyper sense of smell etc, you could've been talking about me when I was pregnant. You must've 'felt' pregnant to even inspect yourself and find milk in the first place .

Booboobedoo · 30/04/2009 21:51

tellyaddict, you are marvellous.

See, I'm pretending to ask sensible, research-type questions, and actually i just want someone to tell me what I want to hear.

Thank you! I feel much better now.

I am such a sad-case.
