I don't quite believe the faint line on the internet cheapy as it really is almost not there so am trying not to get my hopes up. I've also never had so much brown spotting and wondered where it comes from. It is obviously old blood, and has gone on for about a week now. Am now CD 26. I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone with any knowledge or experience of this. Have had 2 mc in last few months and am 41, so feel time is running out.

Thank you very much.

Hi lucypants I have the same problem with spotting this week! My AF arrived today, I was only on CD24, this is my shortest cycle ever! Confused!

Hopefully u will have more luck than me! Gd Luck!

NewMember · 26/04/2009 18:45

luckypants that should say!

beanieb · 26/04/2009 18:45

They say any line is a line. Did it come up straight away? I feel for you so much. If you started spotting around day 19/20 then it could be implantation. Don't know what to advise apart from going to get another test - which is tricky on a sunday evening.

I would say save your wee tomorrow morning and buy another test firsat thing.

good luck. it sounds positive but I can understand why you might not want to get hopes up

luckypants · 26/04/2009 18:47

Thanks for replying and so sorry about AF, newmember. Is it definitely AF if it came so early? How long are your normal cycles?

Thanks Beanie. Have got a Boots test, but don't know how sensitive it is. It is also quite old as it runs out in Sept this year! Good idea to save my sample to get a new test tomorrow morning.

The line came up within the 10 min limit, but you really have to squint to see it!

My normal cycles are between 28-31, NEVER 24! Yea I def think it is AF, I also have cramp like pains, also continued to bleed all day! So gutted about it! Oh well, just need to get on with things i suppose!

You should def text again in the morning!

Fingers crossed for you!

luckypants · 26/04/2009 18:53

Really sorry to hear that, newmember. How weird to have such a short cycle, though. Maybe you ovulated early. Are you temping?

I am using the clearblure fertility monitor! I had 2 high days and also 2 peak days (12+13)- the hormone was def detected! I had a 'chemical pregnancy' in december (v early miscarriage) - hope its not happened again, i have had some clotting today 2) Really not sure!

I thought there was no such thing as a false positive, only false negatives.

I hope you get the confirmation you want. Best wishes.

NewMember · 26/04/2009 19:04

Yea false positives can happen (hope not for u tho) It is very uncommon but not impossible! You should test using a more advanced tester (clearblue digital) x

Also, I thought that implantation bleeding was fresh blood as it burrowed into the womb lining? so it wouldn't be old (brown) blood, would it??

does anyone know WHY we have old blood lying around inside us? sorry if tmi!

OP posts:
NewMember · 26/04/2009 19:44

Not really sure about that 1, I suppose blood is blood so still could be implantation!

ShowOfHands · 26/04/2009 19:53

We all have a thing inside us called a pouch of Douglas where old blood can collect. Lovely, huh?

Internet cheapie tests are just as reliable as any others btw, sometimes more so, just don't come with all the packaging. Ebay cheap tests picked up my pg at 8dpo when other tests couldn't.

Good luck to you, hope you get the result you want tomorrow!

beanieb · 26/04/2009 20:20

the reason the blood is red, or brown is to do with the time it takes to get out I think. So if it's a fast flowing bleed then it's bright red, but if it's taking longer to get out it gets browner, Am guessing that it's the pouch of douglas that the blood collects?

luckypants · 26/04/2009 20:38

oh gosh, thanks for the info. Have never heard of the delightful sounding pouch of douglas. Where is it and what is it's function??

really appreciate all the posts, thanks
