I found a lump on Wednesday last week, got appt with GP on the thurdays, am to return again this wednesday as GP wants to rule out trauma as lump is painful. If still present she is to refer me.

My question is, I am due AF tomorrow, and is giving me all the signs apart from irratability (which isn't normal) that she is on her way. If she comes should I stop ttc, until have all clear for lump, I am worried that they will not be able to carryout all required tests if I could be pregnant.

Obviously my health has to come first, but if by some miracle after 19 months, I have been lucky this month, then I have no option but to have the tests which can be done when pregnant and avoid the tests that can't, but if which I suspect this is another unsuccessful month, I have then got this decision to make and would love some advice, as it is not proving to be easy.

Thanks

I had same as you - found a lump in breast while TTC. I was referred to a breast clinic for tests. The only test they can't do if you are pregnant is mammogram, which uses x-rays, so I remember I had to come back for that after I got my next period. But in the meantime, they used ultrasound scan and did biopsy of the lump tissue (with local anaesthetic), through which they could give 100% certain diagnosis that lump was benign and no risk of cancer - and they gave me the result same day, so no agonising wait wondering if I'm ok. Then went back for the mammogram anyway just to be on safe side and check there wasn't something else there (other than the lump) that they had missed. Everything was fine, and also ended up getting pg a couple of months later. So they should be able to do the main tests even if you are pg, and would definitely not put off testing for 9 months if you are. Good luck (with both) and hope you get an all-clear.

Thank you Pinkpeony, makes it easier to make a decision knowing they can do test that give accurate results if I am pregnant.

Will wait and see, can't see it going in the next few days, it is pretty big.

Also if you do get AF... think it is ok to keep TTC, just make sure you get mammogram done before you ovulate (so while you are still getting AF or as soon as possible afterwards) as no risk from xrays then. But please get checked out as soon as you can as better not to leave these things too late and hope all goes well.
