So I have thrush which is just lovely. Went and bought a caneston pill yesterday but before taking it read the box where it says not to take if you are pregnant or trying to conceive. I know I am not pg as af is here (though I was hoping that the thrush was a pg symptom as apparently its common!) so I don't know whether to take it or not. I am guessing that they only say don't take if TTC just in case you are mid cycle and could be pg. I am obviously not so should I just take it or will it have repucssions on my cycle for this month. Not sure what to do now.

Sorry to go on...I blame AF for my lack of judgement and rational thinking

I don't know about the tablets, but I was prescribed canasten combi with the internal pill by the gp when I was pregnant, they say this because there are some infections when pregnant that can cause harm, so they like to be sure the diagnosis is correct and not something more sinister. They don't like you to self diagnose thrush when pregnant. That is my understanding but I may well be wrong. Go and speak to a pharmacist, they will advice you.

The manufacturers usually advise against taking any over the counter medications when pregnant simply because no trials have been carried out for ethical reasons. The anti thrush medication should not be used in prolonged high doses in pregnancy due to risk of congenital abnormalities but a one off dose should be OK. Talk to your pharmacist or GP for further advice.

Went to the pharmacists and they said it would be fine so have taken it. Need to get rid of the thrush if we are going to try again this month anyway so had to do something. Thanks for the advice!
