Interpreting LH and FSH results

Hi,

In October I had blood test at Doctor. They were checking I wasn't pregnant as I had odd period then very achey boobs. I can't remember exact details of what dpo it was but I know it was before ovulation. I saw the results this week at doctor (they had rung to tell me I was not pregnant but this time I saw the LH and FSH results).

They were:

LH 6.4
FSH 3.1

Can anyone help me interpret that please. I have pcos but doctor said results showed that pcos didn;t seem to be having big effect on me (which is good).

A ration of 2;1 with PCOS is often seen with LH and FSH (there is often too much LH being produced and not enough FSH) and your results are typical of PCOS being present. I also note you already have a PCOS diagnosis.

If you are actively ttc you may need a referral to a gynae as PCOS is often outside a GPs remit of expertise. I would seek a referral if you have not already done so.

PCOS is a very individualistic disorder and does affect each woman with it very differently.

You may find Verity's website useful and it is UK based too:-

Thanks Attila - Ive had a look at Verity's website too.

So my GP was wrong in thinking this was a normal result?

She's referred me to fertility specialist so am waiting for my appt now.

Do these results mean natural conception unlikely? Is there stuff they can do to rectify this?

Thanks. x
