I'm very confused how I could have had DD without having a period...

I'm trying for number two now. DH and I tried for about a year and a bit for our first one. I had my last period mid August in 2007 but supposedly I conceived at the beginning of October...??? Well basically I'm trying to work out when I ovulate but this is so puzzling. I did not have spotting after that period either.

I am having periods again after DD. I meant when I became pregnant with DD, my latest period was in mid August, and my dd came full term late June 2008.

I'd suggest temping daily to show when you are ovulating. There is a very simple 'tutorial' on www.fertilityfriend.com tells you exactly when you ovulate (by charting your resting temperature every day) and how to look for the natural signs your body shows you (eg presence of fertile cervical mucus) I followed this method as I didn't fall pregnant within the first six months of trying, and it taught me so much about my (long) cycle and when I was ovulating. I fell pregnant after a further seven months TTC and managed to conceive dd2 after only five months the second time around.

I am not sure what to say based on the dates you have provided. If a standard pregnancy is 38 weeks from conception, then you would have conceived in the beginning of October. Were you having irregular periods at the time?

I was having irregular periods at a time and I still do. I would like to get pregnant quicker this time as I would like smaller gap.. I will go into fertilityfriend and find out. I also got lots of ovulation sticks so that might help!!

Yes, try the website; it is fascinating.

It is free to use and by taking your temperature every day and entering the data into the website, fertilityfriend will show you when you are ovulating (or not).

Try to observe your cervical mucus/discharge as well as it is another indicator of where you are in your cycle. You can also use the ovulatin sticks and enter those results into the website, too.

Really hope you get pregnant soon!
