liahgen · 11/03/2009 21:59

yep Sunshine, helps the ewcm by all accounts but not to take it after ov as i said before as it can cause uterus to tontract.

(have googled benefits now)

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/03/2009 22:16

Hmmm - I don't get much ewcm some months so I might invest in some Evening Primrose. Does it actually increase it ?

Have just ordered a load of OPK's and pregnancy tests off ebay (despite not getting a positive of them last month and worrying myself silly)

Talking of which, is it possible I didn't ovulate ? I'm having a really strange period. I've got the usual amount of pain etc. but hardly any blood (just brown spotting when I wipe). Presumably, if I didn't ov last month, there wouldn't be much stuff to come out iyswim ?

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/03/2009 22:17

Sorry - meant to say before I started my indulgent waffle - sorry AF got your Mollie. Good Luck for this month

NakedInnocence · 11/03/2009 22:39

tilly it's possible you didn't ovulate last month, I remember having a conversation with my doctor ages back as my period could change from 4 days heavy bleeding one month to 2 days light flow the next. He said that it's pretty common not to ovulate every month.

Made sense but not something I want to think about at the moment as it means even less opportunities to get preggers

MintChocAddict · 11/03/2009 22:44

Hi Everyone,
Can I join please?
TTC#2 Cycle9 UCL40+ CD2
Trying to relax about TTC this month and have decided not to use OPKs as I'm not sure how well they work with my looooong cycles. Still planning to drink gallons and gallons of grapefruit juice though and keep my fingers tightly crossed.

Hi Tilly - could it be implantation and not a period? I have very little bleeding too but my AF is always like that.

liahgen · 12/03/2009 07:59

Welcome Mint,

So how does the grapefruit work then?

liahgen · 12/03/2009 08:08

ok, just had a tip for anyone who ovulates fairly early in their cycle.

I have been ov around day 11 for last couple months, however 7 of those have been me with AF. In order for sperm to be active and fresh your partner should be ejaculating every few days.

SO my suggestion, (am gonna do this this month)is last couple of days of period, nice hand job for your dh, (you could even do it for him if the mood takes you, lol)

Will let yopu lknow how i get on.

wasabipeanut · 12/03/2009 08:42

For those of you who are considering evening primrose oil - a note of caution.

I was taking 500ml a day but for the 2 months that I upped the dose to 1000 (and I didn't do it concurrently so it makes a connection more likely) my cycle got totally screwed up. My period wouldn't stop properly for 12 days! (just spotting) and I also started spotting about 5 days before my AF rather than going straight to the main bit. My first month of 1000ml was August time and the 2nd one October.

The 1st cycle where I stopped taking it completely I got pg.

Very odd and could all be conicidence but it seemed to have a very odd effect on me.

liahgen · 12/03/2009 09:21

oh wasabi, thats very confusing. Am not gonna bother then. Can't afford to take chances, time is not on my side.

thanks for heads up

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 12/03/2009 10:21

Not sure whether to go there with the OPK sticks. I think I am ovulating now, , I wonder if dh would consider a turkey baster?

Tillyscoutsmum · 12/03/2009 10:56

Sorry MrsJoe - you're just going to have to have sex. There's no other way for it man up

Still not much bleeding (I'm normally really heavy). I think I'll do a test when they arrive just in case it is implantation [wishful thinking emoticon]

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 12/03/2009 10:59

I think it may be implantation!!

Sex would be a lot easier Tilly if dd wasn't in our blardy bed! We'll just have to do the deed in the evening when she is asleep. I know, I know, I'm an old romantic.

Tillyscoutsmum · 12/03/2009 11:20

Its a bit early for implantation though isn't it ? I thought it was around 5 or 6 weeks ? [clueless emoticon] All this uncertainty is driving me mad. There was a certain "relief" when I came on. I just thought "oh well, no good this month, on to the next one" and now I don't bloody know what's going on

Yes - I can see the logistics are difficult I always grab dh as soon as dd goes to bed because I know I'll be too knackered if we wait until our bed time So romantic

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 12/03/2009 11:22

I have a slight worry that dh will find the whole thing a bit too, er, mechanical. Or what does he call it? Practical.

Well, yes, dear, but the days of me ripping your clothes off as you walk in the door are seriously gone.

Tillyscoutsmum · 12/03/2009 12:01

Right - have tested and its a BFN. So, for whatever reason I'm just having a lighter period. I'm going to try to stop over analysing and just "enjoy" not having to go through loads of sanitary stuff for a change

Yes - dh has accused me for just wanting him for his sperm Not true at all. I think he just gets paranoid when we are ttc. Its true, he gets more action than normal but he shouldn't be blardy complaining !

I need to relax and stop stressing. Its only cycle 2 and it took 18 months to get dd so I'm not sure what I'm expecting tbh

Liahgen - I'd heard that about "freshening up the supply" as well. Apparently 2-3 days is optimum. If they're in there any longer than that, they start to get a bit stale and lazy

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 12/03/2009 13:02

Yes, stop stressing, loads of time. If you stop stressing, then I'll stop stressing and hovering by the OPK tests in Tesco.

homeschooler · 12/03/2009 17:19

Thanks for adding us on Georgimama.
Sorry about your BFN Tilly.

Liahgen - Grapefruit juice is supposed to increase the right type of cervical mucus that the little swimmers need to get them where they're supposed to be. No idea if it works but I've actually grown to quite like it, so will be supping it again this cycle.

Another Evening Primrose story here too. I tried it for the first time a couple of months ago and I changed from an average of 33-35 day cycle to 40+ that very month. I stopped taking it straight after that but my cycle has stayed longer.
Could be a coincedence but not planning to take it again.

Tillyscoutsmum · 13/03/2009 08:48

Think I'll definitely avoid evening primrose then

How much grapefruit juice are you supposed to drink ? I hate grapefruit
