We started trying to have another baby about 4 or 5months ago. But its not going so well. I suffer from edometriosis and subsequently I suffer from terrible pains whilst ovulating, I have terrible stomach cramps for most of the time that I could get pregnant, which doesn't exactly make trying a nice idea! Has anyone out there had any similar experiences, or does anyone have any ideas of how I can stop feeling so much pain.

Hi klover,

You have my sympathies speaking as a fellow endo sufferer.

Endo can certainly cause problems with conceiving, it can cause deep pain during sex to name but one symptom and it can also interfere with ovulation. You may want to read the National Endometriosis Society's publication called "Endometriosis and Fibroids".

When and how were you diagnosed with endo?. What treatment has been done to date.
Are you under the care of a gynae currently, if not I would seek out the advice of such a person asap. It may require further lap surgery to remove the endometrical deposits or drug treatment to attempt to dry up the endo deposits.

BTW www.endo.org.uk is the website of Endometriosis UK which is a useful website for any woman with endometriosis.

I too had endo and had it burnt away during a lap and then had a three month course of provera to stop my periods in hope that would clear anything remaining. It did, however it did take me a while to get pregnant which may well have been down to the drugs, I never did find out tbh, I had some abnormal cells removed from my cervix at the same time, so I can only guess the delay in conception for me. My second ttc is taking longer than averae so maybe it is just my makeup.
I hope you can get it sorted soon, I didn't do the bedroom deed for 3 years prior to my surgery cos of the pain, I know how you are feeling

My boyfriend is very understanding about things but I constantly feel on edge before having sex because of the pain I have experienced in the past, I am lucky that I feel i have found a possition in which is not too painfull! But It is depressing, this is not how sex should be!
I was under the care of a gynae but we decided to leave having lap whilst I went on the pill to stop my periods, but as I stopped taking pill to try to concieve 2nd child all the symptoms have returned. Thanks for your comments.

I have endometriosis and after having a laparoscopy and some laser treatment to help clear it, my consultant told me that I had a "refurbed womb"....and he was right, as I fell pregnant with DS1 after 2 months. DS2 also took a couple of months (though sadly there was one miscarriage in between, but nothing to do with the endo)...so really, it doesn't mean that things are going to be hard. Just so long as your tubes aren't blocked, you should be just fine!

Yep as above, I had mild undiagnosed endometriosis, went in for ovarian cyst removal and it was during the lap that it was discovered and lasered at the same time. When I recovered I realised how much pain I had been putting up with as didn't know about the endo. Was told to start ttc immediately as it was my best chance in the next 6-9 months. Sure enough in 4 months time I fell pregnant but was quite stressed about the whole ttc - just felt pressured. If you're in the London area, Jeremy Wright was my consultant and is great!

It’s very important that you research and find a top specialist in Endometriosis. Not all gynae’s are equal when it comes to this, sadly! Firstly, having Endo ‘burned’ is a technique that doesn’t work. It’s ablation, and it only removes surface cells. You need to find a skilled excision specialist, with many years of experience in excising. They will use a laser knife and slice out all disease cells. Sometimes Endo can recur after, but often it will not come back at all. And certainly it is very effective in pain/symptom relief until the cells start to regrow (if they do.) I had ablation for my first surgery, and it made me feel worse afterwards. I then joined a very good Facebook group called Nancy’s Nook. Do join. They have files of info from the most cutting edge research and understanding of Endo. Plus, they have a list of approved surgeons around the world who are skilled excision experts, they research each specialist and speak to patients to hear feedback before putting them on the list. I found my surgeon in Oxford through their files. The specialist will also be able to help advise on the best way to conceive. I had two surgeries to remove my ‘deep infiltrating endometriosis’ and followed a course of acupuncture and western herbs myself, plus radically changing my diet and doing yoga and training for a 10k race! I did fall pregnant and have been fortunate. I urge you to join Nancy’s Nook on Facebook: it is grrrrreat!

What is going on?? I had my second baby 10 months ago. Periods always been regular 28 days and typical. I breast fed for 7 months and my periods still returned literally 4 weeks to the day after birth at 28 days as usual. The last few months however. (Possibly since feeding) they haven't felt the same I monitored the first couple and although 28 days I bled for up to 7 days heavily which was unusual as I'm always heavy for a day then have a normal light period ending after 4 days max. Last month my period arrived a week early. It started lightly but I just wanted it to hurry up and get heavy as I had the most awful pmt and could kill someone. Felt awful. Eventually it got very heavy and lasted 7days. I'm now on day 23 of that cycle and the last week I've felt awful pmt again. Bloating etc and woke this morning to heavy bleed. Since them this has become light almost stopped but I do feel cramps and rubbish and pmt? What's happening?im scared I don't want early menopause I want another child. I'm 35. I have not lost any baby weight either despite casually trying. I say this as I've done nothing different than I did after my first baby4 years ago and I sprung back to my pre preg size. I'm a stone and a half over weight still. I've been thinking thyroid issues but had basic blood test and Said functioning fine? Is there a better test? I had an awful reflux problem throughout out whole second pregnancy which has also returned now? Please advise. Thank you.
