do any of you know the rules re pg testing... clear blue tests say disregard after 10 mins and any changes after 10 mins should be ignored. why is this... i thought you couldnt get a positive reading if the hcg hormone wasnt present??? any advice gratefully recieved. thanks xxx

Because after 10 minutes lines often appear on the test.
They are not true positives in that they do not appear because there is HCG. They appear because of the way the stick dries.

If you check out POAS it explains all about evaporation lines.

thanks mrshappy i am going to take it as an evap line.. altho the info says that the line will disappear when dry and only be faint. this is a def line as dark as the control line iykwim. thanks x

That sounds quite hopeful I'd say. Although you just can't beat the digital ones, they tell you one way or another and the result lasts for 24hours!
Good luck

Evap lines usually involve squinting at the stick and are pale. A line as dark as the control doesn't sound like an evap.

Test again tomorrow morning !

the digital ones are less sensitive I think, so don't use them if you are testing early!

Well if you got a line within the first few minutes and it had colour then I would say that is a BFP. Otherwise another test is in order to check the result.
I do think a dark line sounds quite positive, so lots of luck.
