Anyone used progesterone cream for a short luteal phase?

I am on my first cycle of using progesterone cream, having tried agnus castus, and trying to cut down breastfeeding ds with no luck.

so, I used it from ovulation until my period started and although the luteal phase was no longer, I have noticed that my period is different. Much less spotting before, and the blood is much more red and healthy looking. I have also had a couple of spots which I don't normally get.

I wasn't expecting it to sort my LP in one cycle, but am encouraged by the changes.

If anyone has used the cream, how long did it take to lengthen your LP?

I have got some natural progesterone cream which I am going to start using this month, from ovulation. Am also trying (and have been for last 3 months) Agnus Castus, B6, Red Raspberry Leaf and am going to add in some EPO this month too. Nothing seems to be working though, although I did notice last month I ov-ed 2 days earlier than usual but AF came 2 days earlier as well so no real benefit... What else have you tried? How much cream are you usign?

I started using it last month and lengthened my LP from 10 days to 14 days in one go. So definitely a success.

BTW I used Serenity, which you buy online from Wellspring in Guernsey, 1/8th tsp every day post ov.

That's reassuring, grownupbabes - had you used anything else, like B6 etc? I have got a bottle of the Biovea one, so was just going to use 1 squirt a day.

I got the biovea one, so one pump a day.

I wonder if I should go back to taking Agnus castus too. I stopped after four cycles becuase it made bugger all difference.

mawbroon we sound quite similar - I am on my 4th cycle of AC and I can't tell any difference. I think I will give it one last chance. I read that you need to take it every day (even after OV) at first so it gets into your system, so I did that last month. WHo knows... I am getting seriously fed up with it though, I feel like it doesn't make a blind bit of difference how often we BD if the sodding luteal phase stays short, I could have 20 fertilised eggs there but not one would stick!

mawbroon · 18/01/2009 10:49

Mine is short because I am still breastfeeding. I seem to recall that before ds, I used to ovulate around day 10 of a 26-28 day cycle, which I guess would have given me a LP of 15 days or so.

I am happy(ish) to wait until ds self weans, but am doing all this other stuff to see if I can get pg before then, because the way he's going, he will NEVER wean!!

Aaah, well at least you know it used to be 15 days. I am ttc my first and am worried it will never happen Let me know if you have any luck with anything I haven't tried!

mawbroon · 18/01/2009 20:06

How long have you been ttc katster?

Have you been to the doc?

Been trying for 6-7 months, but charting/monitoring CM for a year so feel fairly confident that luteal phase = 8/9 days. seen 2 Drs, both refuse to acknowledge that luteal phase exists - saw one last week who actually told me that ALL women ovulate on CD14... Hence I am feeling slightly depressed as I don't see any way out.... I don't actually know how to see a specialist even if it were affordable. Any tips? Would love to see a fertility expert etc, but GP insists we have to have been trying for 12 months
Any tips?

mawbroon · 18/01/2009 21:35

See another GP?

Have you read Taking Charge of your Fertility? I seem to remember that there is a section in there to take to your doc if they are not co-operating, but I don't remember offhand what it said.

katster37 - your doctor sounds like a fool!!! The fact they don't know LPs vary or even exist astounds me!
