Ovulation tests - what does it mean if both lines are faint?

Hi, I've been doing some ovulation testing for the first time this month using the Boots kit. One line is meant to be dark and the other can be faint or dark depending on if you've ovulated.

The first time I tested, BOTH lines were faint. The second time the one that is always meant to be dark was faint, the one that's meant to be dark if you've ovulated was a bit darker, which I took to mean possible ovulation.

I also took my temp for a few days but in a slightly random unscientific way. It was around 36 for two days then 36.6 yesterday.

My real question is, if the control line is faint does that mean the test hasn't really worked?

Thanks

Hi Love I am no expert but it sounds like it could have been a faulty test (as the control line was faint).

thanks. the control line has been faint each one i've done (that's four now!)

anyone else had this?

for what it's worth, I've noticed that the test line can be faint if my wee is diluted. (Sorry TMI!)

alittleteapot · 15/01/2009 15:18

hmm. the other line was stronger. do you think that means anything?

Teapot, if the other line is stronger than the control line, then it's good news! (You should be ovulating within 48 hours.)

I on the other hand, have no idea what's going on, as after a few more days of faint test lines, I've just dipped a blank one again.
