Hi everyone.
New thread starts here....

OP posts:

Hi Gilly, sorry to hear you have been feeling so down! I guess this is what people mean when they say that ivf is an emotional rollercoaster. don't beat yourself up about your feelings, I think it's normal that you are disappointed after all the great news. But even just getting to blastocyst stage gives you a better chance of getting pregnant, and with two of them transferred I would have thought your chances are very good.
Just take care of yourself, you have done all the hard work now and deserve a rest!

Islegrin, I'm forever ss, sometimes even days after I my period has arrived, it's like I cannot switch it off. just like I'm always bump spotting, I have managed to spot bumps on OAPs . The problem is that just about anything can be interpreted as a pregnancy symptom. how many days dpo are you?

islegrin · 07/04/2009 00:16

Duplomania I'm 9 days post IUI, probably 10 dpo. I'm just in the middle of the tww - going to test on Sunday morning, if I can wait that long. I'm very excited, but if it doesn't happen this time, we'll keep trying IUI. EDD in January would be good too!

I have babies on the brain... just like the rest of you!

I just keep repeating to myself "one step at a time".

Hey GILLY. You've done so well! Those two blasts are busy floating around looking for a cosy place to nest. I keep picturing my two embies looking like squirrels burying peanuts in the lawn! I must sound bonkers. I actually wake up at 5 am every morning now and my first thought is "look at my lovely husband fast asleep. He doesn't know about the squirrels burrowing. I love him.I wonder if he knows how much?" Then I try to stop the pictures in my brain as the picture looks like they've dug up the whole lawn and have only found one teeny tiny patch they like the feel of. I do think picturing the implanantion in your mind is a good idea. I also like reading and re-reading the Miriam Stoppard Conception and Pregnancy Book. It explains all about IVF and ICSI and the different tests men and women have done. Somehow making my brain familiar with the jargon and the reasoning behind why they only transfer two embies makes sense.

Gilly you need to relax. Completely. Are you off work now? You need to go to your favourite book store and spend a hour or two browsing through books about conception and fertility. Keep taking the folic acid and eat regularly. I am occupying my days with thoughts of "what am I going to eat in two hours time?" Also picture each glass of water as lubrication to keep the tissues in your womb nice and wet and tasty. God I am insane!!!! We must keep hydrated as the poor buggers won't be able to implant and the surface will be tood hard and unwelcoming.
I hope this has helped everyone

NotPrincessAnne · 07/04/2009 13:38

Gilly, it must be so hard dealing with all the conflicting emotions right now. I can understand how disappointed you must have been to discover that you now only had two blasts, but just try and relax and not worry about things. And best wishes for the next two weeks.

I had my baseline scan today, and all is looking fine, so I start on the Gonal F tomorrow, with my next scan after Easter. I'm working from home today, with lots to do, but all I want to do is curl up on the sofa with a book and a cup of tea. If only I could....

KC11 · 07/04/2009 14:06

Isle How is your wait going? Have you felt any symptoms? Do you feel as if anything has happened inside? Were you given a pregnancy test kit by the clinic? I had to buy my own for the IUIs. But with the IVF they gave us a kit free.

Hi pinkie - all ok? When is your scan due? How many days after IUI is that?

KC11 · 07/04/2009 14:07

KC11 I think most of my "symptoms" have been related to other things, but this morning my nips were sore. I haven't felt many twinges or things going on inside, but I keep hoping. When I had an ectopic 5 years ago, I was 5 days late and had absolutely no symptoms. The only reason I tested was because I realized I was that late.

Bought my own tests, but I only have one left in the house now.

How about you - any symptoms? How are you handling the waiting?

Hi to everyone. I am on my lunch break and about to nip off to the local Asda to buy things for today's lunch. I am sure i'm about to start AF as keep wanting to eat crisps and chocolate. That is usually the tell tale sign.

Thinking of you Lottie and notprincessanne. Hope the scans go well. What stimming drug are you both using? Are you still doing morning injs of something?

Someone asked about meds post-ET. I am using Crinone gel (in a single-use tube) which you have to insert and then squeeze, in that order!!!!! It is messy if you do it the other way around.

I know this will seem mad but i miss doing the injs every morning. It was such a part of my routine that I keep thinking i've forgotten to do it. I have to remind myself that the Crinone is the only thing I have to do now. They gave me 30 tubes so that's enough for 30 days. I've used 9 so far and haven't yet wasted any.

gilly you seem much calmer. Well done on getting this far. Have faith. Have you ever tried reflexology? I have and I really like it. I used to go to brilliant lady at a beauty salon but she can only do apmnts on tues-thurs between 9.30am and 4.30pm. I really miss seeing her, she made me feel that she really willed me to conceive. I can't go to her anymore as the situation at my work place has changed. They are taking about redundancies again and i don't want anyone to be able to cast a slur in my direction over absence from the office between 9am and 5pm.

Especially as they were good about the IVF appointments, scans and EC and ET days.

Trust me to be having IVF in a recession!!!!!

Well I think my symptoms are more of the welcoming of AF than a BFP, sorry to say. Nothing official yet, but early test says BFN. So I'm stopping the Crinone and Estrogen patch - no sense in two more days, if I'm not pg. I'm 12 dp IUI, 15 dp Ovitrel. So it looks like I'll be setting up for another round soon.

I'm disappointed, but not gutted. I just fell in love with the idea of Easter weekend to find out, and a Christmas baby. DH and I have decided to keep going with IUI for 6 months, so we have 4 more attempts.

I think I'll treat myself to a nice hair cut and color as soon as AF arrives.

flibbertywidget · 08/04/2009 20:20

Hi ladies
Just jumping on to check up with you.
LL - GOOD LUCK Sweetie. really hope this times works for you. Keep up with the PMA...How are you feeling with DH being away? -- we are here for you!!!! - I had extra progesterone support, 1 pessary in the evening and then 1mg of progesterone injected into my butt each day. I had this from just before ET up until 13 wks. Get as many answers as you can to make you feel comfortable and reassured.

Gilly - I am a blastocyst IVF-er, both times I have had IVF, with 2 blasts returned, both times pg. I am now 20wks pg from the second round. Like you i felt very upset, First time from 8 embies, 2 made it to Blast, 2nd time with 15 embies, 8 made it to blast, 2 were put back the rest stopped growing and they weren't able to refreeze. I had FET blasto each time. Try to stay positive, think about those little babies inside you. Blast implantation happens v. quickly, but you may not feel any symptoms for ages or you may feel some quite soon. Try to stay positive and just look to the POAS.

My friend just got some wonderful news from 1 medium quality blast that was transferred to her from a fresh cycle. She is having identical twins. So there is always hope. I am a personal believer in blast, it is sad when some of those embies don't make it. But keep holding out for the ones inside you. Sending you lots of sticky baby dust. It does work!

Good luck all of your sending you lots of baby dust

Issy42 · 08/04/2009 20:29

Hi everyone. Not posted since I got back as wanted to catch up first, but keep not catching up and not posting so thought maybe better if I just jump back in here and apologise for lack of personals. Sorry to those feeling AF imminent - hope she stays away.

islegrin - if you're only 12dp IUI then you may still get a BFP as ~13% of pg women would test -ve at 12dpo. Fingers crossed for you. However, my one bit of advice would be to start the IVF ball rolling asap as I ended up missing 3 cycles of possible trying getting referred to a new clinic (mine didn't do IVF) and having all the pre-screening then joining the waiting list.

Mrs Lottie - nice to see you back.

KC11 - hope you get pg this cycle and if you do then tell work asap - most companies are scared to make pregnant women redundant because of risk of sex discrim claim. And once you're on mat leave you have priority over everyone else for remaining jobs.

Gilly - a belated big hug and bar of chocolate for you.

Had a great time in Lakes - thanks to those who asked - only rained when I was driving home too. I'm just about to do d/r injection 7 and have managed to have only 2 proper bruises so far. Still feel like I'm going to struggle to find a non-tender spot to inject by the time I have EC in 3 weeks though. My clinic was second best in country (based on results for under-35s) in the new hfea results, so trying to take hope from that in the 'if anyone can get me pg they can' sense. Not sure how they rate for my age though.

Hope everyone is well and good luck with whatever stage you're at.

duplomania · 08/04/2009 21:52

Hi everyone,
this is the first time in a long while that I'm actually looking forward to af so I can start my preparation cycle. i'm expecting it this friday but I'm already feeling very premenstrual so may even be early.

really hope you just tested too early islegrin! there is still hope.

Gilly, you sound much more relaxed now, keep up the PMA. Are those ivf cds any good then? I keep reading about them but just wasn't sure if they would be helpful or not.

Hi everyone. Hope you're all getting a nice long weekend off work. I'm just having a very late lunch break. I have a question for temp charters who've used buserelin injections - do you still get pre-AF temp drop? Nurse told me to expect AF today-ish but temp still very high - not sure if that's the drug. I know some people haven't got AF before dr scan (which is next Thurs), so not overly worried but just don't want to get caught out. Got used to my temp dip warning a day or two before. Feel crampy though.

Impossible to take my mind off ttc at work - we're going through an exercise to remove unnecessary things off personal files before we get a new filing system and my batch is all medical staff. I've already done two members of staff from my clinic and am about to do a third. Not to mention that our internet homepage contains an article about the hfea results. Best get back to it.

Londonlottie ttc#1 started stims 7th April EC circa 22nd April
Dharma - ttc#2 BFP!!
Gillydaffodil ? ttc#1 EC 1st April
Duplomania - ttc#2 starting DR ~ 1st May
Pinkie08 ttc#2 BFP
NappyValley - taking a break and trying TCM before attempting last IVF cycle at end of summer.
Issy - ttc#1 started downreg 2 April, dr scan 16th, EC ~ 29th
KC11 - ttc#1 1st IVF cycle - Embryo transfer 2 April
NotPrincessAnne ttc#1 downreg 25 March

KC11 · 09/04/2009 18:16

Hi to all. Easter hugs all round!!

My employers have aked all staff to accept a 20% pay cut indefinitely. I can just about manage to cut my pay but my colleagues and I have got together and have said we'll agree a 10% pay cut for three months. At ahich time they'll review the situation. Does a pay cut now affect maternity benefit in say, 8 months time? Can any one advise? Thanks girls.

Have a wonderful easter and I hope everyone has well behaved Ova and Embies. Indulge yourselves in lots of chocolate. I already have. MMMMMMMMM CAdbury's Mini Eggs are so yummy.

islegrin · 09/04/2009 18:29

Duplomania and Issy thanks for the well wishes, I hope you are both right and I've just tested too early. I'll test again soon and let you know.

I'm already set up with IVF, my doc will do it anytime we are ready. DH and I just want to try IUI a few more times than she recommends because it's more comfortable for us and less expensive. We figure if there is a 15%-18% chance of pg everytime, then 6 times should just about cover 100%

Gilly - can't wait to hear the latest, please keep us posted.

KC11 - So sorry to hear about the pay cut! You test this weekend?

Clure any luck with AF yet?
