Could I possibly be pregnant?

First of all - this site is IMPOSSIBLE to navigate round!

Right, basically I had unprotected sex (well, withdrawal ending) a few times over the new year period (which could possibly have been my ovulating time). Since yesterday I have been really bloated and my boobs are ever so slightly tender at the sides. I know this is probably IBS and muscle ache and I am just thinking pregnancy as I had sex at a fertile time.

Is it at all likely to have pregnancy symptoms so early on? It wouldn't even show on a test yet surely?

I typed my question into google and it directed me here so I hope someone can help me!

Yes could definately be pregnant. Withdrawel method is not a very reliable form of contraceptive.

There is a fluid that leaks out of the penis during sex that contains small amounts of seman. It only takes one determined little sperm and you are pg, so a small amount is enough to get you pg.

Bugger! What about the symptoms so early on?

Some people get early symptoms, sickness, sore boobs, emotiomal, bloated, generally quite similar to pms, some people are pg for ages before they realise. Missed period and + pg test result are the real give aways...

Oh I have just read up on it and it says the body detects the pregnancy 12 days after ovulation and there it's only a few days since so it's probably IBS and over sensitivity!

When is your period due?

Jennnifer · 07/01/2009 23:12

I have a 33 day period usually, so around 19th Jan. Last period was 14th Dec.

Have I got my ovulation days right? Or am I worrying for nothing?

If you are due on the 19th I would guess you ovulated around the 4th, but some people are fertile for longer than others and going just on dates isn't reliable, I reckon if you haven't have unprotected sex since new years eve then you are probably ok??

PavlovtheCat · 07/01/2009 23:40

Welcome, and get a test as soon as you can to rest your mind one way or another, would it be terrible if you were? Or would be pleased?

faeriemoo · 07/01/2009 23:42

sleepcat you said exactly what I was going to.

Jennifer you can piss on a stick for a quid. Hell, you could piss on any stick, really, but for a quid it could tell you yay or nay.

Wonderstuff · 07/01/2009 23:43

Too early to test if she's due on the 19th surely? When do those early detection things start working?

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 07/01/2009 23:45

Four days before but not 100% accurate untill four days after iirc.

Jennnifer · 07/01/2009 23:53

It says 19 days before you're due so I had sex when I was ovulating. I'm still sticking with the fact that I had flu, was on antibiotics (so threw my cycle out a bit) and he withdrew so therefore not pregnant.

I'm sticking with that!

Not a widely recognised form of contraceptive but you may well be fine, took me 3 years of trying quite hard

faeriemoo · 07/01/2009 23:55

Jennifer ovulation usually occurs around 14 days before your period, so your fertile time would be around the 5th of January.

If you're not trying to get pregnant, either use protection or don't have sex. If you are trying to get pregnant, wait until your period is due on the 19th and I hope you get the result you want.

Jennnifer · 07/01/2009 23:57

If I'm honest I was hoping you'd all say "no chance". Naive really! No point me speculating further, as you say only time will tell and from now on I'll practice safe sex. Thanks for your honesty

Fingers crossed for you. If there's one thing MN is its honest.

I spoke to my GP this morning and she told me although it is a possibility, my boyfriend would have to have super ''olympic swimmers' and me "bang on my ovulation day" for me to get pregnant and now I know I wasn't on my ovulation day, I feel much better! Woot!

Although it is possibly to get prognant with this method my mil has used this method for 25 years and never got pregnant. Not sure why I know that about my mil

Jennnifer · 08/01/2009 13:12

The only reason I panicked was my friend said "are you pregnant!" after I described my symptoms but in actual fact, nobody really knows what such early symptoms are as people generally find out when they take a test because their periods late. Except women who are actively trying, but I imagine in this case you would feel every symptom you get as you're looking out for it?

I tested today and it came back negetive. I'm not due on until Friday and I used a First Response one.

Am I testing too soon?

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/01/2009 15:34

Yes.

Jennnifer · 12/01/2009 15:52

When should I test for an accurate result if AF is due on Fri?

OP posts:
liahgen · 12/01/2009 15:58

today??

Jennnifer · 12/01/2009 16:04

Tested today with First Response and it was absolutely neg.

Shall I take it I'm not pregnant and stop worrying?
