Could my Laptop damage my fertility ???

Hi, I have a nearly 4 year old daughter who I took clomid to concieve. The clomid worked first time, only 1 tablet a day.
I'm now taking Clomid again but it's not working. I've just finnished taking 2 tablets a day and that hasn't worked either. Next time I can try 3 tablets a day but that's the maximum.
The nurse wondered why it's not working this time. I wondered if it could have something to do with my lap top. I use a lot and sit it on my lap while I'm on a reclining chair and it does sit over my overies. I've sat like this for about 3 years. Could this have affected my fertility ?

MLL

Would not think its anything to do with your laptop computer.

Clomid is often prescribed to women who present with ovulatory problems - these are often caused by hormonal imbalances (in this regard a condition called polycystic ovaries is a culprit). Is PCO the underlying cause of your subfertility?.

Clomid can also affect LH levels markedly; if these were high to start with (in relation to FSH) then it may be that clomid may not work this time around. They should be looking at other treatment options in the event that clomid is unsuccessful after six months of being on it.

It'll be interesting to find out. There's probubly not much that could be done about it if it is that. I can't think of anything else it could be.

Yes I do have PCOS. The nurse did surgest taking a drug used for diabeties along with the Clomid. Apparently having PCOS raises blood sugar levels. I do have a very sweet tooth too, which probubly dosn't help.
I'm wondering wether I should cut back on my sugar intake.

Even if it dosn't help, it'd help me to loose weight.
Can you reccomend a good sugar substitute?

Clomid should actually be used with a degree of caution with PCOS patients as clomid resistance can happen. You should be carefully monitored whilst on it; internal ultrasound scans should be regularly done to check the ovaries.

The causes of PCOS are not fully understood but there could well be genetic factors behind it. It is a very individualistic disorder and affects each woman with it very differently.

BTW I have PCOS too and was not able to take clomid at all.

Think the name of the drug the nurse is talking about is Metformin - (some but not all PCOSers have insulin resistance). A combination of Met and clomid can work better than solely clomid.

There are several cookbooks on the market with PCOSers in mind - I think the author's name is Collette Harris. You may want to look at her writings.

Splenda is a sugar substitute.

Verity is a UK organisation designed to support PCOSers - their web address is www.verity-pcos.org.uk.

HTH and good luck!

Thank you. Maybe I've become resistant to it then. I've had 8 cycles of it including when I was TTC my daughter.
Thanks for the website, I'll have a good look at that later. The cook book would be usefull too.
