sooooo, ds is 3 months old (today actually) and I've had what I think was a period as he's been sleeping through nights now. DH and I have been using condoms (not very correctly though I have to admit ) and now I'm having what I think are very early pregnancy symptoms that I had with ds. Thrush (sorry tmi-I know), slight cramping, little bit of nausea last night, headaches and I'm so very tired (probably due to ds though). I'm agonising over whether to spend the money for a hpt or just get over it and quit worrying so much.

anyone have any ideas or advice?

Cornbreadqueen - tbh there are always some miserable people who will look down on the news of a baby - whether it's the most planned conception ever or a happy accident some nosy blighter will tell you what a cock up (ha ha) you've made of things. People having first, second, third or nineteenth children - doesn't matter somebody (with 100% history of contraception no doubt ) will line up to tell you what they think. There is only one answer to this - tell them it's none of their business and then run them over with your pushchair/shopping trolley/hoover/photocopier/latte as appropriate!

x posted belgo - but a single thought

CornBreadQueen · 19/12/2008 17:29

Never mind 18 children but naming one Jinger?!

CornBreadQueen · 19/12/2008 17:36

i saw the tv program on them and they actually seem like a really cool family. i don't know how that mum does it though. only one (maybe two ) and my house is a tip and feeling overwhelmed at times. she's like a professional pregnant mum.

It's not that unusual, my midwife was very keen to warn me, and I know several people who had babies around April/May 2007 and already have another one - gaps of about 13-14 months, as well as several more expecting in the New Year (and I had decided to start ttc again but was surprised by the speed).

CornBreadQueen · 19/12/2008 17:49

i think that's why i'm really about this if the test comes out + (will do test tomorrow, can't go out as i've already got tea cooking and dh is home in 30 mins). the midwives kept giving out pamphlets on contraceptives and giving the big speech on how easy it is to get preggers again. well you live and you learn i guess.

thanks ladies still just really about the test though. i'm feeling like my eyes are playing tricks since sometimes it looks like nothing's there and other times you can see the line. def. taking another test in the morning.

to be honest i am actually more excited about this the more i think about it. it would be cool for ds to have someone to be close with.

ha, if it's positive then looks like dh has his christmas present all sorted out (yeah, i actually haven't gotten him anything yet ). here you go honey a pregnancy test. surprise!

belgo · 20/12/2008 14:00

Just catching up with this ... usually a line is positive if it appeared within the correct time frame. I would do another one to make sure though, and update us again tomorrow!

CornBreadQueen · 20/12/2008 14:22

i have two younger sisters that are 18 months apart and everywhere we went people were constantly asking my mum if they're twins then she'd say "nope 18 months" then she'd get a funny look. lol oh lordy what is she gonna say if tomorrow's is a +....

ilove and nemostwonderful thanks for the posts making me feel a lot better that it can be done. oh and congrats to you nemost!

now i'm actually hoping for a line tomorrow!

another vote for the joys of close-togetherness, with boys 14 months apart babydom is bloody hard work, but so worth it, and you reap the rewards as they get older (mine are just 7 and nearly 6).

Congratulations (I hope) and good luck for tomorrow

CornBreadQueen · 20/12/2008 14:33

thanks ohforfoxsake i like your name too btw. good one!

Isn't the darkness the amount of pregnancy hormones? Doesn't this get stronger the more pregnant your are?

Guess what I am saying is that perhaps the reason the line is faint is because you are pregnant, but early(ish) pregnant?

Congrats by the way

CornBreadQueen · 21/12/2008 13:40

thanks for the support everyone. i retested this morning with a different brand and it was negative. a little sad but all for the best i suppose. talked to dh as well and he said he would have been excited but now we're def. being more careful and will be trying for #2 in about a year.

What two tests did you use? Some tests are more sensitive than others and with it being early days...

CornBreadQueen · 22/12/2008 16:33

i used clearblue for the first one and it looked like there was a + sign under certain light. i was in sainsbury's toilets with bright lights and it looked positive but when i got home it looked like a -

then yesterday morning i used first response and got a negative. i figured that first response was the more sensitive one so guess i'll just test next week if the symptoms keep coming and af hasn't shown up yet.
