Hi

I have been on 50mg clomid for 6 months, this is my last month. I was given clomid as I wasnt ovulating properly, the clomid has made me ovulate each month which is good, however I havent fell PG.

I have another appt booked in with the hospital for early Feb and was wondering what to expect?? Will they put me on the waiting list for IVF??

Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and what happened next??

Thanks
xx

Hi,

I am on month 5 of clomid -50mg, 100mg, then 3 months of 150mg. I only ovualated the last twice and this month was given assisted insemination (am now on 2 ww!).

From the reading I have done this has a much higher percentage chance of working as it gets the sperm to where it is supposed to be. Apparantly clomid can sometimes mess up the cervical mucous making it harder for the sperm to swim.

Anyway don't know whether it has worked, but it is a cheaper, lower tech option than ivf so may be worth a go. HTH and good luck.

Thanks for replying!!

If you dont mind me asking , have you gone for the assisted insemination privately and how much does it cost??

I am willing to try anything now!!

Good Luck for this month, pls let me know how you get on!!

Do you have a diagnosis of the underlying problem?.

My guess is that they'll try either IUI or injectible drugs next (the injectibles are more likely to be used if PCO is an issue).

DH is in the forces and we live in Germany so mine is through the healthcare system here and free.

Off the top of my head 500-800 pounds privately rings a bell but not sure.

I had to go in the morning for a scan to check for follicles. They found a good one and one smaller, then gave me an injection to encourage it to release an egg. We were then give a sterile pot for sperm and told to go home, and then come back in the afternoon with fresh sample! It was checked to make sure it had become liquid and then put in a test tube, 'washed' and then spun around in a machine for 22 mins! It was then injected into my cervix through a catheter -a bit painful and undignified but fairly quick. I had to rest for 20 mins and then allowed home. I was a bit sore and crampy yesterday-this happened Monday-but feel ok today.

Will let you know if we have success -this is the last month we can try for a while as DH is going on tour fsad. If not we may try IVF next summer. We should get a try for free but will have to fund trips back to London ourselves for it and also have to think of effect on DS who is 3.7.

Feel free to ask anything else.

Thanks Trocodile good luck hope you get your BFP!!

Hi attila i have had a laparoscopy done earlier in the year and they found mild endometriosis but they didnt seem concerned as it was only mild. My blood tests shown that i wasnt ovulating properly, so prescribed me clomid. I have been ovulating every month on clomid. My DP's sperm is fine.
It could just be a matter of time but I have been ttc now for 2 1/2 years - which I know isnt that long compared to some people on here, but I just feel like its never going to happen!!

Sorry for the rant!!

xx
